Trump off by one election when gas will come down
Facing defeat at the midterms in 54 days, Trump tried to reassure his MAGA base to maintain his control of Congress. “Just vote R November 3 and gas prices will plumet below $2 per gallon right after the election.”
Of course that was simply Trump delusional nonsense. He lost the Iran war in the first week over 6 months ago but is still claiming victory while gas and everything else Americans buy keeps rising.
He has no way out and he knows it. So he falls back on the lesson he learned from his corrupt lawyer Roy Cohn decades ago… deny reality and lie, lie, lie.
Since Trump cannot admit defeat to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on Iran’s sensible terms, oil will remain blocked and inflation will rise indefinitely. After the midterms, Trump will still be prosecuting his lost war on Iran and making up new imaginary tales of impending victory and imminent drop in gas prices.
Unless an unexpected event occurs such as a health crisis that forces Trump from office, the Iran war will remain lost, the Strait will remain closed, oil will remain blocked.
Worst case scenario? Gas prices will not recede till after the 2028 election when, hopefully, a sane peace supporting president is electied who will end the Iran war madness of Donald J. Trump upon inauguration in January, 2029.

More election success by “anyone but Dogshit Donald” might redirect USA stupid careering in selfish stupidity, but will the bruised world scene recover, improve, reset? Much damage has been done to finance, institutions, society, and potentially maggotty AI is set to impose new and frightening imperious intrusive overbearing one way domination. And here in Oztraya, people imagine salvation through a redtopped ratbag of no known capable mentality, backed by a drunken fornicating fool. Blimey! A sign of the times, when Donald Trump guaranteed that every adult citizen in the US would receive a Trump Dividend of $5000 if they returned the Senate and the House to the Republicans at the mid-term elections, commentators said that he is lying and that this dividend is more like Pie-in-the-sky.
The White House say that the dividend payment is not a bribe as it goes to every adult US citizen after the election no matter how they voted or whether they voted at all and thus it is entirely legal and falls into a class of normal election promises.
Trump imposed a single caveat, that the money must be spent in the US but that would seem impossible to enforce or monitor once the money has been banked .
Some cynical observers note that Trump has a history of Unfulfilled Payout Promises: This is not the first time a mass payout has been promised. In early 2025, Trump floated a $5,000 “DOGE dividend” from government cost-cutting, and later in 2025, he proposed a $2,000 “tariff refund” payment after the Supreme Court declared his tariffs as illegal : neither of those ever materialized
The funding is also unclear with Trump and Vice President Vance suggesting the plan could be funded by tariffs on foreign goods. However, economists point out that the U.S. tariff revenues are nowhere near large enough to cover a $1.2 trillion payout. It has been estimated that sending $5,000 to every adult U.S. citizen would cost roughly $US1.2 trillion to $U 1.35 trillion and adding this to the national debt would trigger severe inflation.
Clearly Trump’s objective is to see both Houses of Congress returned to the Republicans for the remaining two years of his presidency no matter the consequences for the US economy. This ploy may very well achieve his objective provided that the anticipated Republican Congress approve the payments, as they must.

If humanity is fortunate, Edward Curtin’s recent warning about the clinically insane Donald Trump will become heard loud and clear around the Earth:

It has been suggested that if the Supreme Court rules against using a specific revenue source (like certain tariffs revenues) to fund the $5000 Trump Dividends, the administration could attempt to fund the payments through standard taxpayer funds, cutting spending elsewhere, or by adding to the national debt by borrowing the required trillion dollars, provided they can secure the required legislative approval from Congress and to achieve that they would need to win both Houses for the Republicans.
Trump would probably prefer the Supreme Court to outlaw the payments so that he can avoid making the promised payments and blame the Court. One area that the Court could rule on is Expenditure to Influence Voting (18 U.S.C. § 597)This statute targets the physical act of exchanging money for votes. It states that anyone who “makes or offers to make an expenditure to any person, either to vote or withhold his vote” can face fines or imprisonment. There is however a fine line between this type of ‘influence’ and normal political pork barrelling which is generally considered par for the course.
Trump’s desperation only outshone by his serial lying.

It’s not as simple as let’s hope they vote Democratic Party.
Some of the Democrats (establishment Democrats) are even more hawkish than Republicans. As Walt (I’m pretty sure) exposed in an earlier article, when Trump signed the MOU with Iran, they went all ‘you’ve sold out the USA’ and ‘you surrendered, loser.’ They were demanding a continuation of the war.
Now, we have Democrats (can’t tell if their establishment, but sounds like it) trying to outhawk Trump on cancelling some parts of the joint exercise with Korea.
There is a coalition of anti-war and foreign policy groups trying to get a group of Democrats to lay off Trump over reaching out to North Korea.
They see this as an opportunity, regardless of what Trump’s motives might be, to de-escalate tensions in the Korean peninsula. It seems that they see this as a chance to replace militarian posturing with diplomacy. They see the Democrat’s rhetoric as cruelling that possibility, and prolonging tensions.

There is a battle going on within the Democratic Party between establishment Democrats that support Israel and corporations, and progressive Democrats like Mamdani.
If the establishment Democrats win, then whatever the outcome in November, it’ll be more of the same, just not as blatant and in-your-face.
