Palestine Action Group Media Release
Today has witnessed a new low in the sickening attempt by some politicians to exploit the horrific massacre at Bondi in order to attack the mass protest movement in which hundreds of thousands of people have marched against the genocide in Gaza.
Opposition leader Sussan Ley, in particular, made a speech filled with obscene misinformation and outright lies. The complete abandonment of any commitment to the truth is a deeply worrying lurch toward the kind of politics Donald Trump has unleashed in the US.
Any suggestion that the Bondi massacre can be blamed on the millions of Australians who have opposed Israel’s genocide in Gaza is baseless, preposterous, hate-filled and hypocritical. There is no evidence of any link whatsoever. ISIS does not support the Palestinian cause, and all available evidence points to the killers being radicalised several years before 2023 or the Harbour Bridge March for Humanity.
The Palestine solidarity movement has always stood firmly and explicitly against antisemitism, and has since the very beginning been organised alongside Jewish people, who have marched in their thousands against the Israeli regime. In Sydney, almost every protest we have held for the past two years has been co-sponsored by Jews Against the Occupation ‘48, and featured Jewish speakers and MCs.
Antisemitism did not march on our streets, bridges and landmarks, nor did it camp in our university quadrangles, and not a shred of real evidence has ever been produced for such claims. On the incredibly rare occasions when genuine antisemites have tried to participate in our movement, they have been unanimously denounced and excluded. The same certainly cannot be said of the Liberal Party, or the Murdoch and other press outlets pushing these claims, who have often supported far right movements led by actual neo-Nazis.
Sussan Ley despicably ties the mass anti-genocide movement to firebombings of places of worship – attacks which the NSW Police and AFP have detailed were carried out by criminal elements, perhaps coordinated by someone in Iran. In other words, nothing to do with the protest movement!
Like others making such blatantly dishonest claims, Sussan Ley has supported the worst possible act of racist violence: genocide. Ley gives the impression she would like it to be a criminal offence to oppose the crimes of the state of Israel. She also seeks to weaponise one form of racism, antisemitism, to whip up another: Islamophobia. This is despicable politics and must be rejected by all who want to uphold universal principles of anti-racism, let alone a basic commitment to factual and rational debate.
Outside the Canberra bubble dominated by politicians, lobbyists and media executives, the fact that Israel has committed a genocide in Gaza is now an incontrovertible fact, confirmed by all human rights organisations and experts. Well over 100,000 Palestinians are estimated to have been massacred and starved to death since October 2023. This is why millions have marched, not because they hate Jews, but because they are against possibly the biggest racist atrocity of the 21st century, carried out by the state of Israel. And this is why they will continue to march, as Israel’s occupation and genocide of Gaza continues.

I’d suggest that she’s trying to stem the “popularity” of Poorleen and her crummy mates.
Doesn’t care how, as long as there’s a headline that bags out Labor and makes her look like she might be thinking.
Has anyone enlightened Suss to the percentage of Jews vs percentage of muslims???
Well in her mind (so to speak) she has to do something for the LNP to overtake PHON stats. JMO🤣
As we know, that woman lacks basic human decency, so why bother about her at all!
Ley and Karoline Leavitt make a good pair of wannabes.
Politics and Truth, an oxymoron if ever there was one. But Sussan Ley has taken the lack of truth to an all time low, under her the Liberals are definitely doomed.
The fact that no Liberals have publicly called out Susan Ley for her inability to speak the truth confirms the fact that the Liberals are a spineless bunch who follow a spineless leader.
Mediocrates.
I see it more as the RRWNJ pollies are going to let her go until they feel she’s become far too much of a liability then coup her.
Goodonyer AIM – for having the guts to give Palestine Action Group a voice!
I am so fed up with the absurd slander against all Muslims that is going on in Australia. (Yes I know there are extremist Muslims, and their views are to be condemned) But the absurdity of calling any critic of Zionism an anti-semite is so offensive, and that includes against those brave Jews who do stand up against the genocide in Gaza.
Surely one might contrive the term a “turdess”, to be polite of course. There are some female impersonators (not sweet Timmy) in the shambling ranks of our opposition who lack nearly all things lackable, including sense, decency, judgement, fairness, humanity. Bludging, bullshitting, bravado, boofheadery, taxpayer funded, is fine. Ms. Cash, noisy nong, demands eyes and ears for her displays of arid performance, inhuman, unfair, grossly ignorant of balance. UUgghh. Do not touch, ever…she could, however, volunteer her services in Gaza…
This article mails the deliberately pig-ignorant behavior of Suss, the Liberal Party, the Nats & PHON. PP is right to call their fems ‘Turdesses’ amongst the ‘Turds’ that constitute those parties.
Today, 22Jan2025. The writing is more than on the wall. Last night ALL the Nationals MPs in their party room voted to move to the backbenches. This morning Littleprong confirmed that the coalition (again) was finsihed.
Suss will certainly be assailed from within the Liberal Party.
Pawleen and the Beetrooter will be drooling.
How long will Sussan Ley be leader of the Liberal Party?
@Heather
I believe we have to bother, that the point has to be made, and it’s made very well here.
Indeed the point cannot be made often enough nor loudly enough.
The country is now in damage control mode.
It’s not as though Sussan Ley is the only one mischievously conflating humanitarian protest with antisemitism to advance her own interests. But the ruthlessness of her timing will not be forgotten.
IMO, we have the PM himself to thank for permitting this terminological conflation to fester into a mindless, politically opportunistic, and dangerous shambles that now require repeated clarifications of the calibre of this piece to remediate.
Second time Ley has wasted an opportunity to get serious with policy and politics.
Lighting matches to stay warm?
Unless the Opposition stops nonsensing and get serious, the quicker they will disintegrate. The public is getting sick of the pervesity from them.
Bert
I think we are talking days for the demise of Ley and the probable election of Andrew Hastie as the new Liberal leader – in my view quite a good move for the Liberals as Hastie comes from an army disciplined background and will bring order and discipline, so very lacking in the Liberal Party.
The question is, will Littleproud be shunted at the same time and who will take over from him to rebuild the coalition ?
Terry,
I imagine that, if it happens, that Hastie will be all, “Gosh, you want me to be leader of the Liberals. This so unexpected. I…I’m touched at your faith and I promise to lead the party to bright and shiny future.”
Who’s the next dumbest excuse of a gNat that could take over?
per Terry’s comment re. Hastie on discipline, the mind boggles.
Early morning reveille, a barked ‘Attenshun!’, followed by ‘Line up, square off, facing to the front’, then, ‘Repeat after me: “We’re the very Liberals, one two three, we’re the very best there ever can be, yes we are, the best by far, watch out Labor, fear our saber, you’re a bad neighbour, aren’t you Labor?”
Doesn’t matter who the Liberals elect, they might as well elect a cadaver..they’re fucked.Or elect another one, at least.
As for the Gnats.. they already had one,
Greens/Independents V Labor and the rest.
Hello future, goodbye Albo.
Re Terry and Canga, we had enough of the sort of nonsenses talked about in their posts from those nutters Morrison and Abbott.
Terry, yes, Hastie would have to be favoured… still a relative unknown, and clean-cut, well spoken, family man, promotes his military background as a leader, and his toughness, but also on the far-Christian right, so ultra conservative, and may I suggest will continue the Lib’s ‘woman problem’, both as within the party and when dealing with women’s rights.
Wow, and wow again, I find it amazing that commenters here are promoting the election of Hastie as leader of the liberal party, and by extension the liberal/national coalition, as a positive step for the state of politics in Australia.
If anything he is more divisive than Ley, a far right trump follower, a man who believes he has the right to dictate to women what they do with their bodies, and believes that might is right, a promoter of war.
