New York Mayor Mamdani only Democratic leader in sync with majority of Democrats calling for arrest of Netanyahu for war crimes.
There are well over a thousand, likely several thousand, elected Democratic office holders at the local, state and federal level. Yet, the only one I’m aware of that called for Israeli Prime Minister and indicted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested for those war crimes in Gaza was New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Netanyahu came to Washington D.C. this week to attend the funeral of the Senate’s most virulent warmonger Lindsey Graham who died July 11 after visiting Ukraine in support of America’s proxy war to weaken Russia. Netanyahu was paying his respects to Graham, an ardent supporter of Netanyahu’s grisly genocide in Gaza that has virtually leveled Gaza’s 139 square miles, killed upwards of 100,000 Palestinians and made life unbearable for the remaining 2,200,000 with little left to survive. Graham thrilled Netanyahu when he proclaimed Israel should “flatten Gaza just like America flattened Berlin and Tokyo.”
While in D.C. Netanyahu met with unindicted fellow war criminal, President Trump who responded to Mamdani’s principled charge stating, “Netanyahu will not be arrested, in any way, shape, or form, while in the United States of America.”
Mamdani sure is an outlier within the Democratic Party. A recent Economist/YouGov poll cited by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz found three quarters of Kamala Harris’ voters wanted Netanyahu arrested when he stepped onto the tarmac at D.C. Even a quarter of Trump voters approved of Netanyahu being handed over to the International Criminal Court instead of being allowed to praise the Senate’s most supreme warmonger before chatting with fellow war criminal Trump in the Oval Office.
Harris lost over 6 million Biden voters last election in the process of losing every swing state in allowing Trump to return to power to launch the most destructive criminal war in America’s 250 years. Polling revealed the biggest reason was Harris refusing to break with Biden over his support and enabling of Netanyahu’s genocide in Gaza still going on in slow motion under Trump.
Inviting an indicted war criminal to D.C. to praise a supporter of that war criminal’s genocide in Gaza is a dastardly stain on America. While it was the Republican war criminal president who invited him, that does not absolve the entire Democratic Congress from complicity in allowing him to defile America without joining Mamdani in calling for his arrest and handover to the ICC for justice.
The Democratic Party shows once again why they will likely not regain many if not most of those 6,265,300 votes lost in ’24 when they continue to support war policies that disgrace core democratic values.
Zohran Mamdani stands alone in contrast to the Democratic Party ignoring the peaceful will of their base.

A common perception is how on Earth did US citizens elect Trump, and all things would be righted if only the Democrats were elected. It ignores the hold on the Democratic party that both Israel and Wall Street have.
There has been a plethora of podcasts and articles describing the incongruence between Democrat rhetoric and actions from the Establishment Democrats, or as many label them, the Corporate Democrats.
A battle within the Democratic Party between Progressive Democrats and Establishment Democrats is taking place for preselection in these coming midterm elections. From what I have been able to glean, it is a battle fought using grassroots movements and volunteer power by the Progressives, and money, much of it from pro-Israel sources, by the Establishment Democrats.
Nothing could be more emblamatic of the problems within the Democratic Party then its leader in the Senate, Chuck Schumer. Schumer has shown utter incompetence in holding Trump to account and resisting the decimation of US institutions, whilst being as gungho on Israel’s genocide of Palestinians as anyone.
The election of Trump, to my eyes, illustrates the danger of a duopoly in politics. That being if the citizenry leave themselves with only a choice of two, when they are both evil, then you are cooked.
The USA, like Australia, should, imo, be looking to alternatives to the duopoly that are campaigning on policies aimed at serving the people, not corporations. I’m not familiar enough with US politics to say with any great confidence, but I would think that the Greens would fill that bill.
So, with the little understanding that I have, I would hope for three things: first that the Republican Party cops a shellacking at the polls in November, as a bad government needs to be thrown out; secondly, that Progressive Democrats replace the Establishment Democrats en masse; thirdly, that sufficient US voters embrace the Greens party in enough individual electorates that the Greens end up with a significant representation in Congress, one that combined with the Democrats takes the majority away from the Republicans.
The US ‘first past the post’ electoral system is proving to be disastrous, imo.
Trump to Mamdami is as a pillock of possumpoo to a mountain of money…We, (the people) need voices, plans, concepts, honesty, service, and so few in public life offer that. Adolf and Josef would chuckle…
The rightful erosion of Trump spreads a virulent stench over the USA. The chooks are heading to the epicentre. But for a few like Sanders and Mamdani, the Democrats only just manage to contain their stench. No wonder the USA is progressively heading to isolation.
There was some, what I believe was, good news out of Michigan yesterday.
“Abdul El-Sayed beat Rep. Haley Stevens in Tuesday’s Michigan Democratic Senate primary, overcoming over $60 million in outside funding, mostly from pro-Israel groups, and late endorsements of Stevens from current Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and prominent national Democrats like Rep. James Clyburn.”
Schumer also endorsed Stevens, who campaigned with the help of Govenor Gretchin Whitmer.
In the ’22 midterms, the Democratic Party won control of Michigan for the first time in 40 years. However, the establishment Democrats squandered the opportunity.
“The Democratic trifecta culminated with an acrimonious intra-party lame duck fight at the end of 2024, as pro-business Democrat House Speaker Joe Tate sat on popular bills, including nine that passed the legislature. Among them, legislation to lower healthcare costs for unions, expand working class tax credits, address predatory debt collectors, and fund an African-American history museum.
Democrats had lost the house in the November election, and instead of sending the bills to Whitmer for a signature before the trifecta ended, Tate handed them to incoming GOP leadership, which also refused to send them to the governor.
The state supreme court, controlled by Democrats, ruled several weeks ago that the bills had to be sent to Whitmer for signatures. Instead, Whitmer quickly vetoed them.”
Other progressives to win were Donavan McKinney, Abbas Alawieh, Chris Gilmour-Hill and William Lawrence, but Corrie Bush and Abe Aiyash were defeated by pro-Israel-backed candidates.
