A reminder: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Green’s amendment to the 2025 National Defense Authorization bill to revoke $500 million in weaponry for Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza was overwhelmingly defeated in the House 422 to 6.
All 422 voting against stopping the genocide weapons are fully aware Israel has bombed Gaza’s 139 square miles to rubble with US provided bombs, logistics support and intelligence. They know Palestinians are starving to death daily. They know Israeli troops are shooing starving Palestinians venturing out for the few morsels of food Israel deigns allow in. They know the US vetoes any UN Security Council resolutions demanding end to the genocide.
But they do not let the worst US enabled humanitarian catastrophe in American history make a dent in their morally damaged consciences. They should try to imagine their wives, husbands, children, parents undergoing the depraved Israeli genocide that their votes in Congress enable.
Just a smidgeon over 1% of congresspersons voting had the decency, moral clarity to support Rep. Greene’s principled amendment. Listen again to her words in support of her amendment to strip $500 million in genocide weapons for Israel. “I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to pay for genocide in a foreign country against a foreign people for a foreign war that I had nothing to do with. And I will not be silent about it.”
Let’s honour Rep. Greene (R-GA) and the 5 congresspersons who joined Rep. Greene in her quixotic effort to steer America away from its depraved path enabling Israeli genocide of the remaining Palestinians in Gaza they have not yet killed: Summer Lee (D-PA), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Al Green (D-TX) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MN).

I applaud Taylor-Green on her stand and I fail to see the rationale of the Congress in approving this genocide with yet more weaponry – let’s not forget that the enemy is no longer Hamas, they are not a viable force : a group of some 600 retired Israeli security officials, including former heads of intelligence agencies, wrote to President Donald Trump to pressure Israel to immediately end the war in Gaza.
“It is our professional judgement that Hamas no longer poses a strategic threat to Israel,” the officials said.
This is now a war against unarmed Palestinian civilians and a demolition of all remaining infrastructure in Gaza City.
Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State, went to Israel and found time to visit the wailing-wall with good buddy Bibi Netanyahu but couldn’t find the time to visit Gaza, why so ?
Rubio is an inferior blot, a fascist operator fit for shit and little of good. Trump surrounds his needy self with faecal fools like a starving desperate cactus. Shitheads make Trump appear vaguely tolerable to illequipped shithead observers. Obeying Trump? Eternal filth there.
America is and always has been subservient to the dollar, weapons and war are America’s bread and butter. A country filled with religious, bigoted and biased people, it should make people proud to be anything but American.
Half a billion. Even that could have treated much suffering in the poorest parts of the world.

So why are we, the people of Australia, supporting a government that slavishly follows every US Zionist whim that enables Israel to commit the sort of genocide on unarmed Palestinian citizens in the same manner that Jewish people and others nationalities suffered at thew hand of NAZI Germany? Netanyahu’s cognitive dissonance suggests a pathological memory disorder. This is not about the defence of Israel or USA and it certainly is not a matter for Australia’s defence.
The standard that we walk past is the standard that we accept.
