US neocons revelling in the current US war to destroy Iran tell the monstrous lie Iran has been at war with America 47 years. In their deranged world view it began with the 1979 Iranian revolution that disposed the hated US puppet ruler Mohammed Pahlavi, the Shah of Iran and took 66 US embassy personnel hostages. Their lie claims that during that 47 years Iran killed thousands of Americans and no president defended America till Trump attacked Iran February 28.
These war lovers omit the current truth that Trump’s war is a total failure for 100 days now. Fourteen US service persons are dead. Hundreds injured. All US Gulf States bases damaged or destroyed. Israel suffered the worst destruction in its 78 years. US offensive, defensive missiles so depleted they will take years to replenish. America’s defeat is irreversible. Worst of all? The US forced closure of the Strait of Hormuz choking off a fifth of the world’s oil and vital economic supplies, likely risking worldwide recession, if not depression. Today’s neocon war was stupidity on steroids.
Their stupidity omits the historical truth that the US is the warmonger here, not Iran, going all the way back to 1953 when the US collaborated with the UK to depose the democratically elected Iranian leader Mohammad Mosaddegh. Patriot Mosaddegh sought to nationalize the British controlled Iranian oil industry being exploited by the UK for decades. To prevent this, the Brits cooked up Operation Ajax and brought the US on board to overthrow Mosaddegh on the pretext he was a commie.
The US enlisted Kermit Roosevelt Jr., grandson of premier US warmonger President Teddy. As a top CIA official, Kermit was tasked with exploiting fake anticommunist sentiment to oust Mosaddegh in a violent coup. Kermit used his contacts among Egyptian Anglophiles and pro Shah forces to get Mosaddegh’s removal started. But advance knowledge of the coup allowed Mosaddegh to prevail, so much so, Roosevelt’s CIA bosses demanded he leave Iran immediately. Instead, he conjured up the ghost of TR, inspiring him to instigate a second coup on his own that succeeded.
It became the model for CIA backed coups – both successes and failures – throughout the Cold War. A year later Ike secretly gave Kermit a National Security Medal for keeping Iranian oil safe for the West. Apparently, Ike didn’t want to go public with an illegal, immoral and criminal overthrow of a sovereign government.
Seventy-Three years on the neocons of today ditched coup for all out war to reclaim Iran for a new American sock puppet, one candidate of whom is Reza Pahlavi, son of the Shah deposed in 1979. Unlike Kermit’s successful coup in ’53, Trump’s war is a colossal failure that signals the end of US hegemony in the Middle East and possibly the entire world. The Gulf States, looking at their shattered US bases and degraded oil infrastructure, will likely turn toward Russia, China, even Iran for security. Europe has largely given up on America. The Far East, seeing the US claw back its missiles for its Iran misadventure is also rethinking its defensive strategy.
Unlike the clever Kermit Roosevelt Jr., today’s coup plotters and warmongers, including Trump, Hegseth and Rubio, are blithering idiots.

So very true, Iran today is a product of Britain and the USA back in the ’50’s, the fact is Trump is just trying to make America Great Again.
USA is planning to merge its military forces with Israels IDF. When will Marles announce that “Australia will jump all the way with Trump”?
(In Washington, June 1966, PM Harold Holt sheepishly but proudly announced “all the way with LBJ”. Holt was echoing Johnson’s 1964 election slogan. USA was seeking Australia’s involvement and contribution to its war with Viet Nam.
@ Mediocrates: Uhm ….. It is my recollection that Menzies or Holt invited Australia to the US v Vietnam imperialist war, against the desires of the US military.
Menzies was assuaging his personal guilty for resigning his Australian Army commission on the first day of WWI, Holt had personal problems, notably is wife.
Regardless, Australia should NEVER have been in Vietnam, government sponsored mercenaries fighting an American imperialist war at Australian expense is simply crass stupidity. The too many deaths of fine young conscripts plus the lives destroyed by undiagnosed PTSD stand as unfortunate memorials to LIARBRAL$ aspiring to being a first class international European power when in fact Australia then was the European appendix only useful for providing cheap food and fibre resources for European consumption.
@ NEC; you are correct. The Liberals commitment of Australian troops to Viet Nam is summarised as follows:
In 1962, Menzies sent Australian Army advisers to South Vietnam.
* In April 1965, his government committed combat troops, beginning with the 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment.
* Menzies justified the commitment partly through the “forward defence” strategy and concerns about the spread of communism in Southeast Asia.
2. Harold Holt
* Holt strongly supported the United States’ war effort.
* During a 1966 visit by U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson, Holt famously declared Australia was “all the way with LBJ.”
* Australian troop numbers increased significantly under his government.
3. John Gorton
* Continued Australia’s military commitment, although public opposition to the war grew during his term.
4. William McMahon
* Began reducing Australia’s involvement as U.S. policy shifted toward “Vietnamization.”
* Most Australian combat troops were withdrawn in 1971.
5. Gough Whitlam
* After winning the December 1972 election, Whitlam ended Australia’s remaining military commitment.
* His government abolished conscription and brought home the last Australian personnel.
Despite all this our current Labor Executive continues to accede to every US request (demand?) for “force integration” to the extent that current US military presence in Australia diminishes our sovereignty.
Thus, Labor values strongly held decades ago have totally disappeared now.
Us “oldies” have been betrayed and are now politically marooned.
Back to the US-Israel war on Iran: Currently USA has nothing to bargain with in negotiations with Iran. The Straits of Hormuz are open to all shipping except those allied to USA and Israel. Netanyahu and the war hawks of Washington are urging Trump to re-start an intensive bombing campaign with the intention of blasting Iran into submission. This will not succeed – Iran has a land area the size of Western Europe and a population of 90+ million patriotic citizens. The mountainous landform is a death trap to invading land forces.
My fear is that as Iran defensively responds to each bombing provocation, both USA and Israel will justify “defending their interests” with tactical nuclear devices. Paradoxically these 2 aggressors will use the weapon that they both have been accusing Iran of possessing, despite there being no evidence to support their obsessions.

Agreed; successive governments since have betrayed Australian voters with their clinging to the ”American Alliance” rather than developing our own armaments industry and standing as a on-aligned middle power in world politics.
The ”American Alliance” has always been a one way transfer of Australian sovereignty to Washington, with American interference in Australian politics considered ”appropriate” by Washington causing the Dismissal of the democratically elected Whitlam Labor government with assistance from the Buck Palace staff.
