I strongly oppose many of President Trump’s policies and believe they have caused real harm and suffering. That disagreement, however, does not justify violence.
Apparent assassination attempts against him, and the disturbing wave of social media comments regretting that those attempts failed, are unacceptable. I do not wish physical harm on any person, regardless of their politics. Celebrating or hoping for the violent death of political opponents – at the hand of another human – crosses a fundamental moral line.
We can – and should – debate ideas, criticise decisions, and compete fiercely in elections, but we must reject violence and the dehumanisation that leads to it. No one deserves to be assassinated. Disagreement is not a license for brutality.
Now for what I really want…
I’d be overjoyed if he were to pass peacefully in his sleep. This year would be good.

Unfortunately, for some people who have been hit physically, emotionally and financially by his behaviour and policies, that balance is near impossible to achieve.
Personally, I want him to have a massive stroke, on live TV – preferably while fronting one of his absurd rallies. One where he overloads that adult nappy to the point it bursts and the entire stadium is filled with the stench. One that leaves him totally physically incapacitated but as mentally aware as he is capable of being (which, on the evidence so far, is not a great deal).
Non-violence is all very well until the other bloke starts swinging his fists. You then have a legal and moral right to punch back. Trump has been swinging those undersized fists all his revolting life.
