The US remains a disgusting outlier in a world increasingly aghast at Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Since Israel went all in for genocide the day after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack, 12 countries have recognized or plan to recognize the Palestinian state at the UN this month. Their reason is disgust at Israeli attempts to wipe out the Palestinians along with their right to statehood. This brings to 147, of the UN’s 193 nations, supporting Palestinian statehood.
Some are taking more decisive action. Norway is divesting from more Israeli companies and supporting the International Court of Justice investigation into Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Italian dock workers from the USB union have threatened to boycott all cargo destined for Israel if the Genoa launched Global Sumud aid flotilla is blocked from reaching Gaza. The flotilla is expected to arrive near Gaza within two weeks. Such flotillas are routinely intercepted by Israel least they disrupt the genocidal starvation of the emaciated Palestinians
Foreign investment in Israel is down by over 29% since the genocide began and is likely to worsen. The Israeli economy contracted 3.5% in the quarter ending June 30 with no sign of improving. Israel’s genocide costs sour while foreign investment declines.
But propping up Israeli genocide is dear old Uncle Sam. Gifted with $3.8 billion yearly for 10 years by President Obama in 2016 is not enough for Israel to keep Palestinian corpses piling up. So Congress passed the Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act in April 2024 providing $26 billion in additional aid. Spending lavishly on genocide sure is a lot easier when you’ve got a ghoulish American Sugar Daddy.
America is further aiding the faltering Israeli economy with loan guarantees allowing Israel to borrow at lower than market rates. Investors turning a blind eye to genocide can scoop up high returns on the American made Israeli safe haven.
International divesting from the Israeli economy is beginning to make a dent in Israel’s efforts to expand Greater Israel on the bodies of uncountable Palestinians. But it’s a daunting task with America, in its 250th year, AWOL from that gallant effort. Much worse is siphoning off treasure badly needed for the US commons to enable completion of the worst humanitarian crime this century.

A pity the same efforts are not being made to stop what Putin is doing in Ukraine.
What took so long, I have to ask. This has been going on for nearly 2 years and many Western countries aside from the US have aided and abetted the Israeli Genocide. Tens of thousands of Palestinians need not have died, if the world had stated clearly, that they do not support Israel in their bloodlust, expelled their Israeli ambassadors, placed sanctions on all Israelis, right around the world. The UK is every bit as bad as the US, but unfortunately we’ve married ourselves to them both, with AUKUS. None of us voted for this.
The reality is that without the USA having been completely stifled from any further war-dog pursuits, it will prove to be of great benefit to all countries all across our world.
Any nation that supports a sinister CIA (national agency) is a nation that should never again be trusted. E.G. the “AUKUS Agreements 1 and 2.)
What you say is true, but had it not been for Biden’s involvement, the Ukraine situation would never have developed. Added to which, had it not been for America’s support, this conflict would not have gone on for this length of time.
