A ballroom for oligarch parties, is not a national necessity, it is a national obscenity.
It’s worse than bread and circuses, at least the plebians of Rome regularly benefitted from the use of the Colloseum.
Average ordinary Americans will never be invited to enjoy the amenities of a rich man’s marble, glass and gold plate appointed fixtures, palatial ballroom of elite entitlement and privilege.
It’s a “let them eat cake,” middle finger to the increasing member of dispossessed and disadvantaged ordinary Americans whose standards of living keep declining because of the irresponsible establishment oligarchs, unaccountable and corruptly exploiting the existentially of the We the People, to greedily increase their own wealth, power and privilege, at the expense of the social whole.
If the oligarchs and Trump want a palatial “National Ballrooom,” let them find a piece of real estate in DC, build it themselves, then donate it to the people. It doesn’t have to be part of The White House.
For 250 years the American experiment has resisted the urge to build a “Presidential Palace!”
You don’t deconstruct the peoples’ House to put up a palace ballroom in the White House for the serendipitous opportunity of suspect movers and shakers, to hold schmooze parties for corrupt opportunity, for a conga line of cronies of the political establishment, to party on the peoples’ dime, in a fucken imperialist, but socialist funded, palatial ballroom.
Yes they have them in Europe, historical buildings, built by absolute tyrant monarchs for their aristocratic personal enjoyment and selfish pleasure, later used for state purpose, as their monarchs either became constitutional monarchs in democratic governments or their countries became Republics, who claimed great royal buildings as state property and used them in the national interest, instead of just for aristocratic or oligarchical elite privilege.
Most countries in modern times, don’t build palatial national ballrooms.
Nowadays it’s only those run by corrupt dictators supported by oligarchs for exclusive oligarch parties of excess, or by one party state dictatorships for the benefit of party member elites or government apparatchiks for benefit and favour, the glue or corrupt bonding agent of dictatorial authoritarian governance.
Trump’s ballroom is such an act of privileged benefit, funded on the public dime, for the exclusive benefit of establishment elites and oligarch cronies.
It is third world tin pot, banana republic, generalissimo type, alleged public beneficence sophistry.

The fact that his fellow “goppers” are not saying or doing anything to stop or at least slow down what he is doing, suggests to me that:
1 – they are just as bad as him
2 – they are afraid of him
3 – the believe that the sun, moon and stars shine out of his arse
4 – they believe that there is something there for them to profit from.
utr, I’d go for the 4th option, America being what it is… sneeze in the street and ask a stranger for a tissue and they’ll charge you a buck for the exchange.
Points 1, 2 & 3 have relevance also, but at the end of the day, it’s a society besotted with getting rich, and totally beholden to Mammon. If being a dag on Trump’s arse means the dollars keep flowing, so be it.
On obscenities, locally, the AWM Australian War Memorial is in parallel universe?
