As Secretary of State, Marco Rubio is charged with using wise, disciplined diplomacy to promote peace thruout the world. As Senator for 14 years Rubio did the opposite, auditioning for Secretary of State by supporting every murderous US foreign policy misadventure that killed hundreds of thousands with bombs and economic sanctions.
A child of Cuban immigrants, Rubio championed the cruel, inhumane Cuban embargo that had been degrading life for his fellow Cubans immediately upon his election to the Senate in 2010. Now as Secretary of State he relishes imposing the oil embargo increasing that destruction. All the Cuban people have to do to get gas to drive to the hospital for life saving medical care is overthrow their government Rubio wants overthrown.
He supported the overthrow of Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi that turned Libya into a failed state and destabilized large parts of Africa for years, maybe decades to come.
Rubio was all in for the US proxy war against Russia using Ukraine as a Trojan horse to do all the dying while the US squandered $175 billion sending Ukraine to the scrapheap of nations in another lost US war.
Rubio received over a cool million from the Israel Lobby to support Israel’s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza and promote Trump’s deranged, lost war on Iran on behalf of Israel that may tank the world economy by its shutting down the Strait of Hormuz.
Rubio’s official title Secretary of State does not do justice to all this murder and mayhem in which he engages. Rubio likely is more comfortable in is unofficial title of Potentate of Venezuela. He was the driving force behind the January 3 criminal US attack on Venezuela that killed over one hundred in snatching Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro and his wife to face trial in America on trumped up drug charges.
With Trump preoccupied seeking an exit from his failed Iran war, Rubio was tasked with running Venezuela from his Washington D.C. office. He gives marching orders to now US puppet Venezuelan ruler Delcy Rodriquez on Venezuelan finances, distribution of its natural resources; virtually all governmental matters. That’s a cool portfolio never approached by any of Rubio’s 72 Secretary of State predecessors. Why does Rodriguez put up with Potentate Rubio edicts? She doesn’t want to end up in a jail cell next to the ill-fated Maduros.
As Secretary of State Rubio acts… and people die. As Potentate of Venezuela Rubio barks orders…and puppet ruler Delcy Rodriquez responds…”Yes, your majesty.”

You could mould a better human than M Rubio out of dogdung, for no soul, brain, character or decency would be required. Benito lives yet! The USA is cursed with these squirted offcuts of failed runaway ancestry. But, in an age of rampant Trumperytrickery, the defective is effective, all rigged.
And this is the guy who accepted a pair of Florsheim shoes from Trump that were a couple of sizes too big… there’s photographic evidence of him in the Oval Office clumping around with a centimetre or so between his heels and the back edges of the shoes. Anybody with an ounce of self-respect would have refused to play along with Trump’s malicious game of ‘Here, here’s a pair of shoes. Put them on.’ But not Rubio.
To suggest that he is a serious person is hugely wide of the mark.
More likely, an amateur scrambling to fulfil a role in some tragic kind of theatre of the absurd, hopelessly out of his depth, stumbling from disaster to disaster.
Dismantle the ICC! Rule Venezuela! Bomb the Iranians back to the Stone Age! Tell the Pope what he can and can’t do!
Meanwhile, millions upon millions of Americans suffer, other millions cheer this goon squad on, and others turn off, retreat to television, booze, drugs, doing their best to shut out the nightmare.
My dad told me there was a view that those who fled Cuba were the reason for the revolution in the first place. Had the wealthy and powerful treated workers and poorer people better, Castro would not have had the backing for the uprising.
Marco sort of adds weight to the view Dad talked of.
At the same time the Trump regime, and particularly Rubio, were falsely claiming that they had to act on drugs coming from Venezuela, Trump pardoned a convicted drug kingpin and former President of Honduras. It was a concocted story to cover for their grab of control over a sovereign nation.
As Walt points out Rubio and the Trump regime are starving Cuba of vital oil supplies and crippling its economy with sanctions, that would be causing deaths. They are also bullying other nations into ending Cuban doctor programs in their countries that would most likely have been saving lives.
Should Australia be tying itself so inextricably to the USA, a pirate country killing, maiming and destroying whatever it takes to control the resources of other countries for its own interests?
Labor would have all of us lost up the USA’s backside, but is that in our interests or Labor’s?
If you voted Labor ahead of more progressive alternatives in ’25, do you look at your grandchildren and think ‘yeah, nah, I’d rather Labor were in power and the USA government made decisions for you, than let you decide anything for yourself?
