Where is the genocide coverage in [my local media outlets] the Chicago Sun Times and the Chicago Tribune?
The horrific murder of two Jewish embassy workers in Washington DC by a Chicago man received massive coverage in Chicago’s two dailies.
The Sun Times had a stark front page on the killing followed by seven full pages of coverage. The Trib had a lengthy cover story spread over two pages and long editorial condemning it.
Understandable.
What is not understandable is that both papers almost completely ignore the ongoing US-enabled planned genocide of 2,300,000 Palestinians in Gaza for all its 600 days.
When both do publish largely buried stories on the genocide, it’s referred to simply as a war on Hamas. The dozens, if not hundreds of Palestinians obliterated daily by US bombs dropped from US planes is rarely mentioned.
There is no editorial pushback against US making the genocide possible with over $20 billion supplying over 50,000 tons of weaponry. No US weaponry…no genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign by Israel possible.
Newspapers have critical public responsibility to inform readers of grotesque government policies that kill untold thousands and inflict starvation and denial of medical care upon millions of defenseless people being cleared from their homeland.
More importantly their public mission is to demand their government stop forthwith.
On both critical journalistic missions the Chicago Sun Times and Chicago Tribune are AWOL.

Now that their mainstream media has so mind-blown itself, it’s craven toadying falls easily into line behind the T-Rumpist horror show.
All in all, political America’s gorging on bad diet and ignorance combined with its puritanical chastity and amorality has turned into running weeping pustules of indecency and gangrenous decline.
*US-enabled planned genocide of 2,300,000 Palestinians in Gaza’, but not only an American gaslighting non-Americans, slightly specious in ignoring key stakeholders and allies of Israel in Putin, Netanyahu, & Trump, then Hamas, Iran, Erdogan and (Trump’s new friend & Netanyahu’s Qatargate) Qatar, with MBS, MBZ, el Sisi et al on another side inc Kushner, Flynn et al…..
Meanwhile other ongoing conflicts have been ignored or disappeared, while Israel-Hamas helping Putin* & Trump*; ignores Sudan, Myanmar, Kashmir, Ukraine etc, keeps on leading to attacks on the centre by the right, and ideological left.
Symptom of media hollowing out & coverage, plus being leveraged to attack the centre, with Israel-Hamas producing much free media content and noise, to drown out all else including other conflicts, which lack images for media.
Domestically it induces broader attacks eg. on universities, campuses, faculty, science, education, students et al under the guise of freedom of speech, anti-woke, anti anti-semitism, men’s rights, complaints about international students etc.
