Trump’s foreign policy: “I don’t need international law because I’m not looking to hurt people”

In dismissing international law, Trump went further and proclaimed regarding any limit on his authority to engage in military action, “the only limit is my own mind, my own morality… the only thing that can stop me.”

During the past year how has Trump’s own mind, own morality influenced his looking to not hurt people?

Trump supplied Israel with billions in bombs to slaughter tens of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza.

He’s bombed imagined bad guys in Somalia 124 times, doubling his previous record of 63 bombings in 2019.

He fired 12 Tomahawk missiles at imagined bad guys in Nigeria killing an unknown number of Nigerians.

He bombed Syria after 3 US soldiers defiling Syrian sovereignty were killed by unknown attackers. Didn’t matter who Trump killed as long as he retaliated.

He bombed Iran to take out an imaginary nuclear bomb program. He may be on the cusp of bombing Iran again to achieve decades’ long US goal of Iranian regime change.

He obliterated 35 small, unarmed boats off Venezuela, killing over 100 unknown persons. Then he attacked Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro’s compound, killing over 100 guards in the process of kidnapping him back to the US.

He’s threatening to invade and take control of Greenland from Denmark.

He’s threatening to change out Cuba’s communist government that has been America’s goal for 66 years.

Back home, he’s sent thousands of masked, armed, poorly trained ICE thugs onto American streets to arrest, harass, beat up, occasionally shoot innocent persons trying to live the American Dream.

Gee, wonder what Trump’s foreign and domestic policy would be like if his stated goal was to hurt people?

  1. Stop with all this mealy mouthed prattle, Trump does what he is doing because the rest of the world lets him.

  2. Walt – Your description of that despicable, deranged and evil creatures’ endeavours, carded under one umbrella is a very worrying article to read.

While I do not think your words are ‘prattle’, I have to agree with jonangel saying the rest of the world lets him do it. We do. But how do we stop him ? Maybe the NATO countries currently gathering sans military in Greenland and the vow that Greenlanders will never sell out, might rein the horror in, then again it might give him another excuse to flex military muscle. The people who have met their demise at his direction, have been small, weaker countries and communities with scores of internal strife, so are easy targets for more shows of so-called strength and domination. Let’s hope this show of strength by allied nations on the ground will have him back off.

  3. When we have a deranged narcissist without regard for international law, and a brutal expansionist fascist also without regard for international law, with over 10,000 nuclear weapons between them, the world has become very dangerous

  4. There is no such thing as “International Law”, at best we have a number of loosely followed conventions. A “Law” is something implemented and enforced, Trump doe not recognise the ICC or the ICJ.
Trump has broken a number of internationally recognised conventions, but he hasn’t broken any “LAWs”.

  5. Trump told the truth when he said about his limits being his morality…. he is, from what I can determine, at best amoral, that is devoid of any sense of morality, or perversely immoral.

  6. Like a headmaster we once had who wielded a rattan cane as an implement of punishment and a demand for obedience, this Global Emperor has now said that he will use trade tariffs to punish countries that do not accept and applaud his plan to takeover Greenland

Now is the time for world leaders to show their colours and stand up to this thug and it is incumbent on the US Congress that they take action to impeach this man and have him and his egregious family arrested and deported.

    Enough is Enough !

  7. Terry, too late, far too late, our elected )world) leaders should have taken action months ago. Trump has seen this lack of action as a sign of international weakness and he’s right, our elected leaders have shown cowardice, but sadly we elected them.
Don’t worry about Trump sanctioning us, why doesn’t the world sanction him?

  8. Yes Steve, liberalism: real property and the acquisition of everything is indeed the the root of all persistent problems. In extremis, it’s given rise coercion and theft, to wars, to MICs, to fascism, nationalism, propaganda, the need for the UN, corporate agglomeration, corporatized media (once the ‘fourth estate’), the peddling of bling, global tax evasion and jurisdiction jumping, and the global surveillance state panopticon. And all those so opposed to it all.

Inevitably, mind-blown and failing America tried out Trump in 2016, then quietly nurtured and gave rise to ‘Project2025’. Trump’s 2025 tenure sees him immediately and unambiguously put it into action. His lifelong loser pathology sees him implement his usual m.o. of wanton acquisition, bluff, defamation and vengeance, with the brown-nosed money-gods in their ethics-free zone facilitating him and riding on his coat tails.

Steve Bannon said yesterday, Trump doesn’t care about the Constitution, and would definitely go for a third term as POTUS and, if possible all the way! Trump has completely ignored and/or jibed at the UN, especially the ICC and ICJ, including sanctioning and politically disbarring and banning entry to the US of many of the UN’s seniors.

Most recently, his blackmailing via tariffs the Europeans backing Greenland (who cares about NATO!), and his invitation to 60 nations to represent on the ‘Gaza Board of Peace’ chaired by him, is proof-positive of his usurpation of the UN. Forget the ‘international rules-based order’ (it’s the best we’ve got, but a liberal furphy anyway) and the L.A.W., it’s the Trump way only, based on his morality.

Meanwhile he is gutting America from the inside by his political device of a hugely pumped, armed and rogue ICE, running his panopticon, theft and expropriation and elimination, not only targeting immigrants, but also American citizens who object.

With Trump’s America amped-up and head-butting everything in sight, saying, ‘get yer mother to stitch that!’, it is only the Trump-and-flunkies’ loud and naive braggadocio that has them failing to see that their program can be abruptly halted in its tracks.

No-one really wants to see America go down, old ‘liberal order’ or not. But with Trump pushing ever harder, the hand-wringing has had to become dangerous. And one ought remember, America has a certain way of dealing with leaders it had enough of.

Alternatively. Trade War, anyone? Ubiquitous bankruptcy, anyone? Global ‘Dust Bowl’, anyone? Nukes, anyone?
