They’re still blaming Labor

I watched a video earlier (an SBS interview) of an embittered David Littleproud blathering on about how Labor “destroyed the character” of Peter Dutton. It was a jaw-dropping rant worthy of Donald Trump, and something I completely disagree with.

To the extent that Dutton even has any real character, it was his own performance that, at best, did his persona no favours and, at worst, demonstrated to anyone watching that his character is both flawed and mean. His campaign was a masterclass in self-sabotage, marked by petulant outbursts and a refusal to engage with substantive policy discussions.

No amount of blame-shedding to Labor and Albanese will erase Dutton’s poor performance, the outright lies, and opportunistic slanders that were a constant theme throughout the campaign. No amount of howling at the moon will hide the fact that the Coalition as a whole was unprepared, unready, poorly disciplined, and utterly incompetent at every turn. Their policy platform was a patchwork of half-baked ideas, and their messaging was as coherent as a toddler’s tantrum.

I’m pleased beyond words that this mob was unable to get back into office. They are neither ready for it nor capable of running anything much more complicated than a pub quiz night. Frankly, their failure is a relief for anyone who values competent governance over political theatrics.

  1. This clown, Littleproud, thinks the people of Australia are as stupid and gullible as the voters in his Electorate.
He is trying to lie his way out of any blame for the disaster, yet he was one of the main Nuclear Power warriors.
Littletobeproudof is just a twerp. Strange how they are never to blame, and how can a man of no character have his character ruined?
    They will never learn.

  2. The ONLY people Little-to-be-Proud-of can blame for Dutton’s catastrophic loss in yesterday’s federal election are the callously inhumane, corrupt, self-serving pathological liars, misogynistic predators and racist right-wing extremists in the LNP! If Little-to-be-Proud-of and Dutton want to blame someone for their inevitable loss in the federal election, they only have to look in the mirror!

The LNP REFUSE to wake up and realise that their stratospheric loss in yesterday’s election was because the HUGE majority of Australians are sick to death of the LNP’s non-stop pathological lies; disgusted with the LNP’s hateful cowardly attacks against the poorest most vulnerable people in our nation; annoyed how the xenophobic racists in the LNP keep targeting anyone and everyone who isn’t a White Anglo Saxon Male in our multicultural society; angered by the escalating level of self-serving entitlement, corruption and elitism that has tainted the LNP for decades and repulsed by the huge level of rusted-on inherent misogyny that has been so endemic right throughout the alpha male LNP cabinet going back to the era of that arrogant, cigar-chomping, born-to-rule right-wing “Tory” sycophant, Robert Menzies!

This generation of young Australians are better educated, more widely travelled and more discerning than previous generations and, as such, are not prepared to put up with the level of deviousness, entitlement, blatant racism and cold-blooded inhumanity that is so established in the dark hearts of the ultra-conservative, callously inhumane political psychopaths, pathological liars, cruel elitists and misogynistic predators who take up every seat in the LNP!

Indeed, the catastrophic defeat that Dutton and the LNP faced yesterday was NO SURPRISE – it was INEVITABLE!

  3. Kathryn- I agree with much you say, especially about younger Australians who can travel but only the richer few can travel to observe different cultures – and those for a short time.
When I left the UK to live in Hong Kong from 1976 to 1996 – for 20 years – the experience was the best education in my life. Our friends were from European countries , Asian countries and everywhere. I am still in touch with some old friends- as well as friends in the UK who opposed the division caused by scheming politicians for their own gain, of the Brexit decision.
Brexit was the result of demonising anybody “other” including European neighbours! The mess in the UK is that they are far out on a limb and not being unified. They are crawling around asking Trump for a deal. Chlorinated chicken – anything?
What I most want to see , is Albanese standing up to Trump- who now imagines he is the new Pontiff by the way.(unbelievable) When will somebody lock him up?
We don’t need AUKUS in some vague time in the future or probably never. Stop chucking money to the USA for a dead in the water policy.
The US don’t have friends- only people (thick enough) to be useful.
I hope Albanese has the courage and now a very strong mandate to do good things beneficial things for Australians and the world we occupy.

  4. Littleproud, Smallshame, Tinysausage, Minimortadella, Dullskull, Bruisedbrain, Inbredingrate, Buntrycumpkin, Midgetmerkin, the great prophet of power generation by the nookla way, just near the black stump, Back o Bourke, Burke and Wills dedication coming, Barnaby Rootem-Drinkon as patron, Dutton trust finance, S Morrison patronage…YAAIIRRSS!! WE listen to the people, the science, the future, Bolt and Sty newsless, Merde Dog Maggots, the tealeaves…we listen to foreign donor corporations, law relief lobbyists, wives…(What? Hang on until 2028??)

  5. I think Noel Pearson summed up the Nats leader (during The Voice to Parliament campaign) when the Nats Party early on took a position of vote no. He referred to him as ‘a man of little pride’. Reflective of his character (or lack of) and not just a play in words.
