Thanks to Donald Trump’s tariffs, the share market took a tumble… And some of you probably suffered a hit to your superannuation accounts, but it’s good to keep these things in perspective.
Gina Rinehart, for example, must have lost billions in the past few days, so the paltry few thousand you lost pales by comparison. That’s why I can say, even though I’m poorer this week than last, at least I’m not Elon Musk because he’s lost more money than all of us combined will earn for the rest of our lives. Although I did often think, thank God I’m not Elon Musk even when he hadn’t lost billions…
Lots of people have lost far more than you. Although not Trump and his family who sold their shares in Truth Social before he announced the tariffs, because that’s the sort of cluey businessman he is.
I’m not going to copy all those pundits and politicians and say that it’s important to keep a sense of perspective and remember that the stock market is cyclical and that even though you’re poorer today, things will bounce back because it’s easy to say that when you’re not yet down to your last billion dollars. Or even your last million…
But it is important to keep a sense of perspective. Like I said before, we could all be worse off, we could be Elon Musk… Ok, you may think you’d prefer to be a rich guy who has the ear of the President – his good ear, not the one that was shot off and miraculously regrew – but I ask you: does Elon look happy? When you call your child “X”, as well as all your companies, it does suggest a man who has difficulties in distinguishing between humans and things, which certainly explains his inability to understand why everyone hates him.
To be fair, not everyone hates Musk. Just people who don’t like Hitler salutes and people who find whiney men painful and people who dislike arrogance and people who lack empathy and people who have empathy and woke people… Anyway, not everyone…
But like I said, you, at least can wake up in the morning and think the worst that’s going to happen is you’ve lost a few thousand and your family hates you and you’ve lost your job. You won’t go down in history as one of the men who helped destroy the USA… This may be thought to be a good thing by some, but they’re the sort of lefty, woke people who won’t give him any credit anyway.
As for the tariffs themselves, I’ve attempted to explain clearly and logically what they mean, but I’ve decided that this could be the wrong approach. Perhaps, I should explain how Trump seems to perceive reality.
For Trump:
- Reality is largely what you can convince people. If you can convince people that you have a plan or a university or a charity, then it’s all you need. You don’t actually need to have the thing itself.
- Anyway who takes money from you is ripping you off. This explains why he hates taxes and why he doesn’t pay his bills. This is why he wants to impose tariffs on imports because these countries are being unfair by selling Americans what they want to buy.
- The tariffs will eliminate the need for income tax and it’ll be those foreigners paying and not Americans.
- The tariffs will lead to a golden age of American manufacturing and they won’t need to import things. People will have jobs and there’ll be a sweatshop on every corner.
- Now the last two points may seem a little contradictory because if you stop or greatly reduce the imports then there’ll be less revenue coming from those foreign countries that are ripping off the USA by selling to them, so where will the money to pay for government services come from? Easy, you eliminate government services. Elon has made an excellent start with DOGE.
- We need to get rid of all the immigrants so that our own people can have the jobs that they’re stealing. Jobs in factories that aren’t being done by AI and robots. Jobs in agriculture. Jobs in security. Jobs, jobs, jobs. And once we’ve jailed all the dissidents we’ll have plenty of people we can force to take the jobs that migrants used to do.
I think that’s about it.

NATO might go or metamorphose..,AUKUS should die, the UNO might die or shrivel, Trump, his gang of goats, the republicans all should GO, NOW. So, what is there to worry about? Dutton? An absurd sick dream? This planet?

Technically Musk et al might be down a few billion, but only if he/ they sold his/ their shares. As the pundits say, the markets are cyclical so if he holds what he’s got and buys some more at the bottom of the market (assuming he gets that right) he’ll make killing later. Which sort of reinforces my belief that, for the most part, stock markets are just another form of casino.
A current article in Pearls and Irritations by Jeffrey Sachs gives a rather good explainer of the coiffured fuckwit’s tariffs and where it’s all heading.It’s so beautiful, we’ll all be farting through silk…at least by yesterday.

The “flow-on-effect” is being felt all-over. As you would be aware, the “Liberation Day” tariffs took many by surprise – none more so than the avian and pelagic inhabitants of Heard and Macdonald Islands over the 20% tariff imposed. Both islands are located in the Southern Ocean near Antarctica. Comment was sought from the locals, but such was the level of ill-feeling, it was thought safer to use a camera drone from some distance.

No doubt about it, the ONLY thing the self-serving, prosperity-obsessed, totally corrupt Trump/Musk Diarchy will succeed in is to MAKE AMERICA HATE AGAIN and to make the US the most despised, reviled nation on the planet! I save all my sincere sympathies for the thousands of intelligent, compassionate Americans who had the foresight NOT to vote for that callously inhumane racist, Trump, a notorious misogynistic predator and CONVICTED CRIMINAL, but, sadly the idiots won on election day and helped elevate a demonic sociopath whom future history books will, no doubt, record as being the worst, most deprave, destructive and inept president in American history!
What the intellectual midgets who voted for Trump don’t seem to realise is that countries and corporations that Trump has recklessly imposed up to 35%+ tariffs upon will, inevitably and very rapidly, pass those costs and fees on to American consumers who will notice huge price rises (and price gouging) on anything and everything imported into America, which includes high quality Australian beef used to make McDonald’s hamburgers!
I wish I could feel some type of sympathy for the Murdoch-manipulated RWNJs and racist red necks who thought the misogynistic predator and megalomaniacal narcissist, Trump, was going to be a good option – but I don’t and never will! They will RUE the day they helped Trump rise to fascist power and get what they deserve! Their unspeakably foolish decision to elect Trump will hit ‘em right where it hurts = in the pocket!
There is a slight danger of a Himalayan pact or a world gathering but surely enough countries will be bullied into submission and crawl to the white house to leave only the woke septics to fight out the next four years or to suffer till trump dies in office.
