There are 533 congresspersons (2 vacancies) all of whom have allowed Trump to launch his immoral, criminal war on Iran that has failed. Not a single one called out Trump’s criminality before his clear, obvious decision to invade.
Virtually all 271 Republicans are either supportively silent about its criminality or are, like Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Ted Cruz, ecstatic Trump finally launched the war they have spent years promoting. Even the lone antiwar Republicans, Senator Rand Paul and Representative Tom Massie, avoid calling out Trump’s criminality by focusing on his usurping Congress’ constitutional power to declare war.
Aside from fanatical Democratic war supporter Senator John Fetterman, the other 261 Democrats oppose the war for two political reasons. They support Rand Paul and Tom Massie’s constitutional argument regarding Congressional primacy in declaring war. But they are more motivated by using the war’s failure and rising US gas prices to demolish the Trump presidency and regain Democratic control of Congress this November. Their cynicism ignoring Trump’s international law criminality killing thousands including 13 US military, causing massive destruction in Iran, Israel and the Gulf States, pushing the world economy into decline is both stunning and reprehensible.
President Trump is a monstrous war criminal who, in a just world, would be answering to his war crimes in the dock at The Hague. But the 533 cowardly congresspersons who either support Trump’s war crimes or simply use them to collapse his presidency are near fully complicit in them. When the war ends and the wages of his sins are totaled up, President Trump can look toward the 533 congresspersons on Capitol Hill and beam…’Couldn’t have done it without you.’

The great USA, developed into self fixated filth, vanity, strutting bullying, greedite and egosaturated, is now totally untrustworthy. We must detach ourselves from this dangerous relationship from now, for our future rests on a new approach. Trumpery shit sticks and stinks.
What world does Trump live in ?
He wilfully bypassed the US Congress, the United Nations Security Council and his international allies. He embarked on a secret plan to attack Iran together with his dodgy mate, Bibi at a time when talks had reached a critical stage with Iran and were due to recommence within forty-eight hours in Vienna.
After all this he has the impertinence to come out and ask the rest of the world to help him out when things start going pear-shaped.
He got suckered by Bibi Netanyahu and the Washington Jewish lobby and it’s now up to him to get himself and us out of this mess.
What of the Australian parliament?
There have been about 1000 Lebanese citizens killed by Israel in Lebanon, including in an Israeli attack on a hospital clinic. Recall the diatribe of outrage in parliament on Oct 8th ’23. Recall the hysteria in the mainstream media and how long that was maintained. Now compare the two. A cacophony of outrage at the murder of Israelis on Oct 7th and the call of crickets, with a few exceptions, at Israel’s slaughter of Lebanese innocents.
The only parliamentarians I can find who immediately condemned Australia racing to give support for the US attack on Iran were the Greens, Andrew Wilkie and Lydia Thorpe. David Pocock was searching for the feelings of his constituents and was going to survey them. Perhaps the other Independents were doing the same or their constituents were in favour of the attack. It is now weeks into this illegal war and I can find nothing definitive about their stance on a clearly illegal war, as well as Israel’s war crimes and invasion of Lebanon, other than tepid statements of concern.
The Coalition, who were gungho on the illegal attack, are now, that it is clearly a disaster, shifting their focus to tepid criticism of Trump. What else would we expect from the Coalition.
Only when European countries definitively said ‘we aint joining your war to the US’ did Labor decline to send warships. The only MPs showing any leadership and integrity have been the Greens, Andrew Wilkie and Lydia Thorpe in my view.
Trump has acted like Julius Caesar. It is time for the Senate to take it to its conclusion ‘et tu Brute’.
@ Thommo. Agreed.
Having just watched ”All the President’s Men” movie again on television last night 190326, I was reminded that the Nixon Republican Re-election Campaign was corrupt to all; levels of all judicial entities; the CIA, the FBI, the Justice Department, and any body else who could be co-opted.
In 50+ years, NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN AMERICAN POLITICS.
@ NEC. Agreed
Albeit, I believe nothing has changed since its wonky constitution was formulated by the ‘founding fathers’ (or was that foundering fathers).
The entire GOP is complicit and not in the least interested in their constituents….and there is more ‘No King’s’ marches this week.
