In word and deed, President Trump appears on the cusp of attacking Iran to decapitate its regime and destabilize the entire country of 93 million.
Trump threatens war and moves massive military might into the region near Iran. He did the same thing to Venezuela last September. On January 3, he pulled the trigger, attacking Venezuela, killing a hundred and kidnapping its president to stand trial in the US.
The criminal Venezuelan campaign would be small potatoes should Trump pull the trigger to utterly destroy the Iranian regime.
The US and Israel tried and failed to do that during the June Twelve Day War. Trump suckered Iran into complacency by scheduling negotiations, allowing Israel to launch a sneak attack June 13. Tho suffering massive destruction, Iran struck back, firing over 1,500 missiles and drones into Israel. It caused enough damage and chaos that Israel begged Trump to negotiate a ceasefire.
Israel and the US tried again last December by using provocateurs to support domestic Iranian government protests. Trump threatened military intervention based on protecting the protesters from death. But when Iran crushed the protests Trump backed down once again.
This time it appears Trump may go for broke with all out war. Big mistake. Iran understands, ‘Fool me once shame on Iran.’ This time they’re ready with tens of thousands of missiles and drones widely dispersed and impossible to neutralize.
Iran realizes America and Israel’s existential threat cannot be negotiated away. Any attack will likely inflict thousands of casualties in Israel and to US forces in the region. The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln may end up in Davy Jones Locker. Iran could shut down the Strait of Hormuz, sending oil prices into the stratosphere and US economy into the dumpster.
War with Iran has nothing to do with America’s national security interests. It has to do with Israel’s determination to destroy its last hegemonic rival in the Middle East. For America, it has to do with acquiescing in whatever madness Israel demands of both parties under near total control by the Israeli government and its American lobby.
Even in his degraded mental state, Trump may comprehend the catastrophe he’s contemplating unleashing and stand down. But it’s tough to pull back when you rattle sabers and put an armada on your imagined enemy’s doorstep.
While spending a trillion dollars on war this year, Trump might set aside a few bucks for body bags. He may need thousands of them.
No wonder the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists moved the Doomsday Clock to 85 seconds to Midnight, the closest to world annihilation in its 79 years. In Trump’s America the Clock only moves forward, never backward.

There must be loyal, patriotic, educated, experienced, civilised people in the USA and its agencies, the CIA, FBI, the Pentagon, etc., who realise, clearly, that Trump must be removed, eliminated, terminated. Madness, greed, savagery, uncivilised bastardry threaten all, everywhere. We must have peace, progress, fairness for all, if slightly possible. The threat is terminal, the weaponry fatal.
If he attacks Iran they will retaliate and then Donnie will retaliate and Iran will retaliate and then Donnie… Then we could see an all out war in the Middle East. Will he accept the blame for the deaths of petentially hundreds of thousands of people? Nope, he’ll find others to blame like he’s always done.
@ Walt Zlotow: Sadly you are right on the money; The ZIONAZI lobby in Washington and the State Department pushing the Israeli position to dominate the Middle East and likely intention to control ALL the present and potential oil reserves, regardless of current sovereignties.
Shades of WWI when the decrepit Emperor of Austro-Hungary waited three days to reply to the German Kaiser while the German Generals mobilised about one million soldiers to the German fronts.
But what is all the fuss about?? The Ayatollah is a CIA plant after the disposing of the Shah Pavhali (sp?) Senior who wanted to share the profits of petroleum refining for the benefit of the Iranian people. NOT a useful thought for the financially rapacious US international oil corporations.
Meanwhile Pavhali Jr (the Young Pretender) is offered up as the next CIA puppet to gift the known & potential oil reserves to the US oil corporations for as little cost as possible, preferably none.
The American people will be immune to any thoughts about these changes because TACO Trumpery acolytes own the MSM so there will be no news, and the only worry will be the price of ”gas” for their gas-guzzling vehicles.

As I posted elsewhere: Trump’s wars are not about Venezuela and drug runners – its about denying China access to oil. War with Iran is not about Iran developing nuclear capability – its about denying China access to oil. Yes, oil – but to be precise it is about denying the BRICS nations the opportunity to trade oil in yuan and roubles and thus avoid the SWIFT dollar dominated system. USA will not tolerate any nation that does not trade in USD and will use any excuse (usually provided by the Zionistas) to wage war to prevent the SWIFT system and thus the US economy from collapsing.

I think you are correct on all counts, oil and the USD’s strength are Trump’s worry. The USA’s world dominance is in decline., I hope.
Trump provides a dreadful dilemma.
How to be justifiably critical of the brutal misogynistic religious zealots that run Iran, and be equally and justifiably critical of the irrational, deranged narcissist running the US.
