Trump marks Navy’s 250th by quoting his greatest tweets

It was meant to be a celebration of courage, history, and 250 years of service to the nation. Instead, it became a cringeworthy one-man show featuring the Commander-in-Chief’s greatest hits, direct from Truth Social to your nearest warship.

As sailors braced themselves for what might be the crowning moment of their life in the navy, President Trump took the podium and promptly set sail for uncharted waters: “I won the 2020 election,” he declared, as if addressing a flotilla of fact-checkers lost at sea. Moments later, he assured the crowd, “Doctors say I’m in better shape than Obama,” prompting murmurs from sailors quietly recalling that push-ups were, in fact, part of their job.

He soon turned to history, offering what one aide called “a bold reinterpretation of the last century.”

“You know what happened in Vietnam? The American forces were too woke, too politically correct,” he said solemnly. “They worried too much about feelings and not enough about winning. I would have won it in three weeks, maybe two.”

Moments later, he identified “the new enemy: the Democrats.”

“They’re trying to sink America from the inside,” Trump warned. “You can’t have ships if you have socialism – the maths doesn’t work.”

In a stirring finale, he reminded the crowd of his role in national security long before entering politics.

“I warned about Osama bin Laden ten years before 9/11,” he declared. “Nobody listened. If they had, 9/11 would never have happened. Everybody says that.”

Observers described the speech as a “spiritual sequel” to his online rants, complete with all-caps emphasis, sudden digressions, and an unshakable belief that the Democrats personally sabotaged the Navy’s supply chains. “They caused the government shutdown – very bad people, low energy, hate boats,” he said, drawing light applause from two confused onlookers who thought he’d said “votes.”

The Navy has survived wars, storms, and pirates. It will likely survive this speech too. But history may record October 5, 2025, as the day the fleet endured its most awkward engagement: the Battle of the Rambling Address…

… complete with the dance routine:

The setting just makes it all so much more jarring. This was the U.S. Navy’s 250th anniversary – a moment meant to be about honouring history, service, and sacrifice, regardless of party. To pivot that into a stream of personal grievances, debunked election claims, and random personal jabs at a former president from over a decade ago… it just feels completely disconnected from the purpose of the day.

  1. OMG!
Just when you think he has sunk to the bottom.

And people – including some here in OZ – still believe he’s the best thing since sliced bread.

  2. Sickness from the top down, infection everywhere in society, evil elevated to daily policy, worship of actual stupidity, degeneration…Trumpian USA is an arena for Donald Dogshit to perform like the showoff rat he is. And he has a horde of gravytrain grubs backing him, profiteering, distorting anything for vanity. Criminality.

  3. On a side note: Hasn’t it always been permitted in the Navy to keep a beard? Or is that only in some Navies?

  4. Everything MUST always be about The Donald because he’s so great and terrific and intelligent and more popular than the magic sky fairy. Let’s face it, there’s just nobody like Donald anywhere in the whole wide universe. Or so he keeps telling us ad nauseam. Why even Oolon Colluphid would be overwhelmed by the shining orange face and glowing combover.

  5. The truly bizarre thing about this is that not only are his minders allowing him out in public to perform like this, but that there is a sizable portion of the USAnian populace who still persist in believing he’s the best thing since sliced bread (which he, of course, invented – both bread and the slicing).
