If you only listened to Republican talking points this week, you’d think Washington, D.C., had become a cross between Mogadishu, Caracas, and a post-apocalyptic movie set. One after another, GOP figures have taken to microphones to declare it “the most dangerous city in the world,” showering Donald Trump with thanks for “saving” the capital.
The facts tell another story. Violent crime in D.C. is falling, and the city doesn’t even crack the top 20 most dangerous in the United States – let alone the globe. The narrative is pure theatre: exaggerate a threat, roll in the troops, and then applaud the “hero” who solved a problem that barely existed.
It’s a manufactured crisis designed to burnish Trump’s strongman image. By turning an ordinary city into a supposed war zone in the public mind, his allies can justify military deployments and feed the fantasy that only he can restore safety. The more they repeat it, the more the fiction hardens into “truth” for his supporters.
And that’s the point. The facts are almost irrelevant; what matters is the story. If enough people believe the capital was a lawless wasteland before Trump rode in, then his intervention can be framed as a decisive act of leadership. In reality, this is a page from the oldest authoritarian playbook: invent an emergency, centralise power, and position yourself as the indispensable protector. Washington was never the most dangerous city in the world – but the real danger lies in how easily a democracy can be manipulated into believing it was.

I will never understand how someone like Chump can just stand up and literally say anything……………..and everybody just believes him??????????? As with this article Washington D.C. has falling crime rates, outside the top 20 highest crime cities in the US and the world…………yet just because Chump says crime is rampant and the city needs to be Federally saved everyone is believing him.

They’ll be among the first to go when he declares martial law and suspends elections, right before declaring himself POTUS for life. He is following Hitler’s lifeline very well, with a smackerel of 1984 thrown in, maybe even some Animal Farm.
