Yeah, all right, that’s not what he said. What Dutton actually said was:
“He’s not become the President of the United States by being anything other than shrewd, you’ve seen it in his business life, and the art of the deal is important to him, that both sides of the deal are contributing, that nobody’s ripping each other off.”
Now some of the people who are paying attention are pointing out that this “deal” consists of him and Netanyahu announcing an idea where the only ones who’ve agreed to it are Trump and Netanyahu…
I mean, Hitler did at least do a deal with Chamberlain to annex the Sudentland in return for “peace in our time”, only to say that our time was short and therefore the peace would only last until he could move his tanks across the mountain ranges and use his new territory to advance his ambition to stamp out division by removing anyone who disagreed in any part of Europe…
Trump’s deal, on the other hand, left out the following people:
- The people living in Gaza
- The people living where these people are meant to go
- Anyone in the US who has an understanding of how things work
- Any Israeli who thinks that Gaza belongs to them
- Anyone who sees a problem with what he’s proposing
And I guess it’s that final group that is always the hardest one to win over in any deal. I mean if you don’t have to worry about anyone who disagrees with you, then making a deal is easy: “I just made a deal to buy my neighbour’s car for $25.99, he doesn’t agree but that’s why I have to ignore him in this whole transition; he just won’t agree to me without arguing!”
Anyway, I must say that I’m not about to condemn Trump for putting forward a lunatic plan for peace. Nothing else has worked, so maybe this will…
See what I did there?
Yes, it’s an awful plan but I didn’t commit myself so if we completely ignore the fact that just because something “works” that doesn’t mean that it’s the right thing…
For example, if I offer to solve the problem of the homeless in the city by moving them to the country, it might work, but it doesn’t mean that there’s no longer a problem; it just means that I’ve moved it to where nobody cares… and by nobody, I mean the people who thought my solution was actually a good idea and who needs to make a deal with people who disagree with you…
And that’s the strange thing about Dutton’s inclination to attach himself to Trump’s coat-tails in his charge at The Lodge, he doesn’t seem to understand that, not only is everything likely to blow up in Trump’s face, even when he wins, he ends up leaving his supporters with egg on their faces.
“Yes, the tariffs are just a negotiating tactic… no, um, he means them, well they’re a good idea… I mean they’ll help… oh, excellent, they made Mexico and Canada back down and agree to… something… stopping drugs coming so we can make our own… no, um… Look, I’ll get back to you!“
When Dutton says look at Musk’s Department Of Government Efficiency, it should be great here, we have to ask the obvious question…
NO, NOT WHY DOES DUTTON HAVE TWO SHADOW MINISTERS WORKING ON GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY WHEN SURELY THAT’S A CONTRADICTION!!
What will Dutton say if the whole DOGE thing blows up in the face of the US?
Will he say: “Yes, it’s true that the whole country is in a mess now that they sacked the public service, but that won’t be the same here because when we copy them, we won’t copy them because… Sorry, you’re from the ABC aren’t you? Well, you won’t have a job after we get elected!!”

How long would Israel be safe from a Trump take over?
Would Israel become another USA territory under Trump and Musk?
