Buying protection from a madman

Last month President Trump escalated Middle East tensions by launching a bombing raid on Iranian nuclear facilities, declaring his military endeavour a resounding triumph, despite the absence of any concrete evidence to support his claims. Addressing the gathered leaders at the NATO summit in The Hague, he proclaimed that the US strikes on Iran had achieved a tremendous victory, his words echoing through the grand hall as he spoke with unwavering confidence.

In a fierce response, Iran unleashed a barrage of firepower, launching over 400 ballistic missiles and nearly 1,000 drones at Israel since the onset of the conflict on that fateful day. According to the latest reports from the Israel Defence Forces, more than twenty of those ballistic missiles found their marks in urban regions, leading to tragic casualties and widespread destruction that left entire neighbourhoods reeling.

Amid a stormy and chaotic conflict, claims and counterclaims ricocheted through the air like shrapnel, creating a cacophony of uncertainty. A visibly fatigued President Trump stood resolute before a barrage of relentless questions, his demeanour a mix of defiance and determination. With every inquiry thrown his way, he clung tenaciously to his declaration of victory, asserting that they had decisively dismantled Iran’s nuclear ambitions.

Any dissenting voices that dared to challenge his assertions were swiftly labelled as purveyors of fake news, malefactors of truth, or sympathisers with his adversaries. The atmosphere was thick with palpable tension as observers around the globe held their breath, each passing moment amplifying the suspense of what the future might hold.

In a rare emergence from his shadowy refuge, Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, aged 86, resurfaced to make a dramatic statement amid the tumult of war. Since seeking solace in a clandestine location following the outbreak of conflict on June 13, he had remained concealed from public view, heightening speculation about his well-being. With a palpable air of defiance, Khamenei declared that his country had “delivered a slap to America’s face” (more like a kiss on the cheek) referencing an Iranian missile strike that targeted a US base in Qatar on Monday, June 23 – a bold move that, fortunately, resulted in no casualties.

These remarks commemorated his first public address since the announcement of a ceasefire with Israel, a moment charged with significance. He further asserted that recent US airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear sites had “not achieved anything significant,” suggesting that the impact had been grossly overstated, particularly by President Donald Trump, whom Khamenei accused of “exaggerating” their effectiveness. His words echoed through the tense atmosphere, signalling a resolute stance against perceived threats and a determination to project strength in the face of adversity.

Amidst the swirling tensions of international affairs, Trump administered a stark warning to European leaders: unless they escalated their defence expenditures, he would reconsider America’s commitment to their protection (no guarantees). In this climate of uncertainty, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stood firmly on his ground. On Friday, June 27, he rebuffed the pressures emanating from the Trump administration, which called for a significant increase in military spending to 3.5% of GDP. With resolute determination, Albanese proclaimed his intention to maintain his current trajectory, which aims for a more modest 2.3% over the next decade.

In the past, America thrived on a spirit of camaraderie, where neighbours stood by one another in times of need. Yet now, that profound sense of unity has faded into a distant memory. The bonds of loyalty that once flourished amongst us feel increasingly one-sided, leaving a lingering sense of disconnection in their wake.

It was once assumed that the USA would come to our aid if we were ever attacked. As we have supported them in times of conflict. It is now presumed that we should pay for the protection.

We no longer find the warmth of mutual support that once brought us together, and instead, we navigate a landscape marked by solitude and apprehension. America no longer displays the camaraderie toward one another as it once did. Our loyalty is no longer reciprocated.

On a monumental Saturday, June 28, 2025, the future King of the USA commenced yet another extraordinary quest to solidify his title. In a bold and unprecedented move, the US Senate cast their votes, an electric charge of tension and expectation crackling in the air. They approved the President’s sweeping authority, a decision that resonated like thunder across the halls of power. This formidable grant endowed him with the capability to take decisive actions, including the weighty option of declaring war. As the moment unfurled, its significance rippled through the nation, poised to shape the very fabric of its future in ways that would echo for generations to come.

“Congress declares war,” Democrat senator Tim Kaine said in a speech on the Senate floor:

He stressed that the framers of the US Constitution in 1787 were so wary of giving the power to start wars to one person that they did not even entrust it to George Washington, the first commander-in-chief.”

“The future Sovereign robustly entered the White House and in his own telling, he had fixed the Middle East. He had made NATO pay up. He had pacified the heart of Africa. And now Napoleon Trump had once again just been crowned emperor by the US supreme court.”

He addressed the gathered reporters with a triumphant air, exclaiming, “We’ve had an incredible week.” The highest court in the land had just delivered a monumental ruling, further entrenching the power of this morally questionable entity by diminishing the ability of federal judges to issue nationwide injunctions that challenge its policies.

Now unshackled from any constraints that once complicated his path, he stands free to make decisions devoid of oversight, shunning advice and relying solely on the murky depths of his own twisted reasoning. Empowered, he can navigate a landscape of his own making, unencumbered by the voices of dissent or the weight of informed counsel.

In a stunning turn of events, the Supreme Court has granted President Trump the go-ahead to deport undocumented immigrants to third-party nations, such as South Sudan. Instead of sending individuals back to their countries of origin, Trump now has the option to transfer them to far-flung destinations. This decision marks a monumental victory for the controversial figure, often referred to as the “orange man” by his critics. Just imagine the bewilderment and despair of someone who has called the United States home for half a century, only to find their life uprooted by the whims of a leader they see as ineffectual or even cruel. It’s a striking reminder of the precarious nature of safety and belonging for millions.

My thought for the day

God save the King, a madman dressed in orange.

And another thought:

Question: Who am I quoting?

“Trump is a Traitor to The West.”
“The most destructive President in history… dragging America and democracy through the mud.”
“Is nuts.”
“Is a village idiot.”
“Is a political liability and a problem to the world.”
“Is a quack apothecary.”
“Has episodic craziness.”
“Is not a leading intellectual force.”

  1. The insane orange madman is (officially) turning America into the world’s leading crime family.
The mafia Dons would be green with jealousy. This is going to end well for nobody.

  2. And THIS is the totally insane, absolutely irrational, war mongering intellectual midget that Sky (Lie) News wants OUR PM, Albanese, to go out of his way to meet and associate with? REALLY?

Even “Blind Freddy” can see that the power-obsessed maniac, Donald Trump, is getting worse, more dangerous and more irrational as each day passes to the point where he is now prepared to start WW3 just because that ruthlessly undemocratic, megalomaniacal lunatic believes he can! Trump needs to be STOPPED NOW! If there was ever a deranged POTUS who so desperately needs to be IMPEACHED – once again – it’s Trump! All one needs to do is to pay attention to the terrifying, totally irrational things that Trump says and does and take a good long look at Trump’s self-serving, shameful and criminal background to see just how truly depraved and dangerous he really is: Trump is a CONVICTED CRIMINAL without conscience, a pathological liar without one iota of remorse; a recidivist misogynistic predator with a life-long contempt for women; a totally heartless, callously inhumane, self-obsessed sociopath without any regard for ANYONE but himself; an inept SIX TIMES’ BANKRUPT without one iota of regret that he left his creditors with a ton of bills he had no intention of paying; a truly depraved, totally corrupt, self-serving political psychopath who will tell any lie, commit any crime and stoop to any low, low gutter level to get what HE wants, WHEN he wants it! Trump is currently defunding a wide range of judicial, charitable and socially-responsible programs into oblivion, maintains a deep contempt for America’s Constitution and is now even changing LAWS in order to do whatever he wants WITHOUT consequence! Trump is now internationally-despised and widely considered to be an out-of-control fascist, an insane, totally unhinged despot who is now posing a REAL RISK to world peace!

FFS, America, Trump is BEYOND BAD – get rid of him! Trump MUST be IMPEACHED – NOW! – before he goes on to destroy everything Americans believe in and instigates WW3 !!

  3. Well, there’s one Albanese doing a great job.
UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese, on 3 July, urged states to sever all financial and trade ties with Israel and impose a full arms embargo.
She described the situation in Gaza as “apocalyptic,” accusing Tel Aviv of carrying out “one of the cruellest genocides in modern history.”

Speaking before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Albanese said, “What I expose is not a list, it is a system, and that is to be addressed.” She went on to present her latest report, which names over 60 companies accused of facilitating Israeli settlements and military activity in Gaza.
The recommendations were met with applause inside the chamber. Israel’s delegate was not present, in line with Tel Aviv’s stated policy of disengagement from the council, which it accuses of antisemitism.
Albanese urged UN member states to halt all arms transfers, suspend trade agreements with Israel, and prosecute companies complicit in war crimes. “We must reverse the tide.”
She warned that the continued complicity of states and corporations sustains the conditions for genocide in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

    And there’s one predictable outcome.
The U.S. government has formally requested that the United Nations remove Francesca Albanese for attacking U.S. companies in her new report, and denied that a genocide is occurring.

We’ll know Albo is doing well when the US asks for his removal.

  4. When things get really bad, A Military Coup by the Military will take him out plus most of his Government. Seeing them locked up in their own built cages will be justice. As they wait the decisions of whoever is in charge of the USA. As to what to do with them.

  5. On this ‘Instead of sending individuals back to their countries of origin, Trump now has the option to transfer them to far-flung destinations.’

Think Australia has been more prescient in trying similar in the past?

Worse, same fulcrum anti-immigrant Tanton Network that informs FoxNews; bipartisan too?

  6. Thanks all for your comments. Its good when people add other thoughts and directions to one’s own.
