When will the progressive media – namely the popular Rachael Maddow, Chris Hayes and Lawrence O’Donnell – acknowledge and condemn US enabled genocide in Gaza?
Every night millions of progressives and folks of good will tune in to these three MSNBC progressive stalwarts thirsting for moral clarity on the critical issues America, indeed humanity faces.
And every night for the past 560 days, Maddow, Hayes and O’Donnell have blotted out discussion of the most critical issue that should be Story One every night: the US enabled Israeli genocidal ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza.
It commenced the day after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel which provided Netanyahu the perfect casus belli to implement his long-sought goal: extending Greater Israel. It has destroyed every semblance of life for the remaining two million Palestinians not among the likely hundred thousand already dead.
It’s entering its final phase since Israel broke the temporary ceasefire to resume relentless bombing. Over 5,000 Palestinians have been killed, wounded in the three weeks since. An average of 100 Palestinian children are obliterated daily. Israel has blocked all food, humanitarian aid and electricity to Gaza. Its military has seized half of Gaza and made two thirds “no go” zones for Palestinians seeking refuge. Soon all the Palestinians in Gaza will be dead or gone.
None of this could occur without America’s tens of billions in weapons, and US vetoes of UN resolutions to end the genocide, and the US’s refusal to support the International Criminal Court’s indictment of Netanyahu among other unrelenting support.
Instead of arresting indicted war criminal Netanyahu at the White House, Trump welcomed him to cooperate on plans to remove every Palestinian from Gaza, sending them to Egypt, Somalia, Sudan, Somaliland or whatever dumping ground they can secure. It’s the most grisly genocidal ethnic cleansing since WWII.
Yet, night after night, while the slaughter goes on, Maddow, Hayes and O’Donnell and every pretend decent journalist on mainstream news turns away from the genocide occurring right before their eyes.
When will Maddow, Hayes, O’Donnell and the others acknowledge and condemn the US enabled genocide in Gaza? Likely never, for reasons they demur to offer.
Any journalist who ignores what is happening in Gaza might one day be haunted by their decision to keep their eyes wide shut.

And now, today, I see Canada’s new RW PM has vowed to deport pro-Palestine protestors, Trump-style. The world gets madder every day. All the more important to vote out all genocide supporters from our Parliament, while we still can. Regardless of their bribes.

Overnight the IDF conducted a tactically significant bombing raid on the al Ahli Arab Hospital, the last fully functional hospital in Gaza City. Witnesses said the strike destroyed the intensive care and surgery departments of the hospital.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it targeted the hospital because it contained a “command and control centre used by Hamas” but that claim was found to be without any foundation in fact or evidence.
The evidence seems clear that the Israeli government are committed to a process of ethnic cleansing and genocide and any criticism immediately invokes claims of antisemitism, a camouflage that is becoming increasingly ambiguos.
Ironically the very body that was set up to avoid this type of genocidal activity after the holocaust, the United Nations, has been neutered by the veto provisions of the UN Security Council.
The simple answer to the header question is “they won’t”
Why?
Because to do so would earn them the label of being antisemetic.
Never mind the suffering and deaths in the Gaza community, the murder of aid workers, the illegal occupations by settlers or the destruction of infrastructure.
Being labeled antisemetic is the death knell for any thinking person or organisation who dares to call out the evil people who “lead” Israel at the moment.
And, no I’m not justifying what Hamas did – it was stupidity on show for the whole world to see.
Time after time when Palestinians have objected to their imprisonment in Gaza, their dispossession of lands and basic human rights by an intifada or some other means which have cost Israeli lives, vengeance has been extracted with a ration of close to 100 Palestinian lives for an Israeli life. Currently the ration after October 7 is only 50 or there about.
I think I recall something regarding such ratios in the German occupied parts of Europe when any sign of dissent was found.
The longer this goes on the more like Hitler Netanyahu appears to be.
But hey, Abraham was promised the land way back when, reiterated time and again throughout the Old Testament. My nemesis sent a post outlining that history this morning, just a reminder how gracious that god of live is, how good at promoting hatred.
And we are to live in fear of being branded antisemite on the basis of a myth?
But in a media environment where the pay is huge, to ruffle the feathers of those wh hold the cheque books is a bridge too far.
Simplistic right wing framing and, what’s the point? Why cherry pick* a few US centrist media types and not others in the US or elsewhere, what’s their personal relevance to events and ignoring FoxNews?
*Easy to attack a few nominally left US media types and blame them for historical and long running Hamas-Israel conflict, but they are neither producers nor proprietors? This seems about running protection for corrupt authoritarian power?
Why should horrors of Gaza and US gain attention above and beyond horrors of Sudan, Myanmar and Ukraine, to wedge any perceived enemy?
Meanwhile Trump’s ally Putin continues bombing Ukraine civilians and avoids criticism, because Trump’s other ally Netanyahu does the same and can?
Writer cites Trump, Netanyanu and latter’s asset Hamas, but ignores many others and related players?
Ignores long term relations of Putin with Hamas, Netanyahu and Trump; in the background MBS, MBZ, el Sisi, Flynn, Kushner et al and Iran their shared threat with Israel?
Also ignores Qatargate scandal of Netanyahu aides, with Qatar supplying cash to Israel to handover to Hamas in Gaza?
Qatar’s ally ie. Turkey’s Erdoğan and his own AKP, helped set up Hamas years ago.
