I’ve been contacted by one of Gaza’s bravest journalists, Bisan Owda. She describes conditions there as beyond words – utter devastation amid relentless bombardment. Israel is targeting her not for any crime, but because her unflinching reports expose the truth of the genocide unfolding in real time.
Bisan fears her time is running out. She’s reaching out in a desperate bid to amplify her story, protect herself, and shield the countless others like her whose voices are being silenced. We can’t let her become just another casualty.
Right now, Bisan is in hiding, evading forces intent on erasing every witness. It’s a matter of hours, days – maybe less – before they close in. But her fate isn’t sealed yet. Israel draws its legitimacy from Western powers, and it’s up to us to dismantle that shield through unrelenting pressure. We’ve stopped short before; we can’t again. The world is in this together – every protest, petition, and share chips away at the impunity.
Trump’s recent vows to “take over” Gaza post-genocide make the urgency crystal clear: This isn’t ending; it’s escalating. We must act now to halt the carpet bombing, demand ceasefires, and safeguard journalists like Bisan.
Please, do everything you can to save her life. Flood embassies with calls for protection. Amplify her work on social media (#SaveBisan #FreeGaza). Support groups like the Committee to Protect Journalists. Bisan’s courage isn’t just inspiring – it’s essential. She’s given the world eyes into hell; we owe her a way out.
We need her alive. Not as a statistic among the 220+ journalists murdered by Israeli forces since October 2023, but as a living testament to resilience. Join the fight. For Bisan. For Gaza. For us all.
Editor’s note: An update was just received from Bisan:
“The genocide in Gaza has turned our lives into a dreadful nightmare. Every day, we wake to the sorrowful cries of children who have lost their families, and the terrifying sound of bombs tearing apart what little remains of our homes. We are trapped in a pitiful reality where hunger, homelessness, and death surround us on every side. Mothers carry the lifeless bodies of their babies. Fathers dig through rubble with their bare hands, searching for loved ones. Families are sleeping under the open sky with no food, no shelter, and no safety.”
Dear reader, we need your support
Independent sites such as The AIMN provide a platform for public interest journalists. From its humble beginning in January 2013, The AIMN has grown into one of the most trusted and popular independent media organisations.
One of the reasons we have succeeded has been due to the support we receive from our readers through their financial contributions.
With increasing costs to maintain The AIMN, we need this continued support.
Your donation – large or small – to help with the running costs of this site will be greatly appreciated.
