Gina Rinehart, Australia’s richest individual and a prominent supporter of Peter Dutton, has attributed the Liberal leader’s recent election defeat to what she describes as an “anti-Trump scare campaign” orchestrated by the media. In a heartfelt statement posted to her website on Monday, Rinehart called the loss “devastating” and “emotionally exhausting” for many within the Liberal Party and its loyal voter base, highlighting the profound disappointment felt across conservative circles.
As a long-time financial and ideological backer of Dutton and the Liberal Party, Rinehart has been a vocal advocate for his leadership, championing his conservative stance on issues like economic policy and national security. She urged the Liberal Party not to waver from policies reminiscent of former U.S. President Donald Trump, such as deregulation, tax cuts, and a focus on resource-driven economic growth. Rinehart views the defeat as a critical juncture, encouraging the party to “rebuild” by doubling down on these principles rather than moderating its approach to appeal to a broader electorate.
Rinehart’s comments have reignited discussions about the media’s influence in shaping public perception during the election. Critics might argue that her narrative oversimplifies the complex factors behind Dutton’s loss, including voter concerns over cost-of-living pressures and climate policy. Meanwhile, her call for a Trump-inspired platform might spark debate within the Liberal Party, with some members advocating for a more centrist approach to regain marginal seats lost in the election.
As one of Australia’s most influential figures, Rinehart’s steadfast support for Dutton underscores her significant role in shaping conservative politics. Her mining empire, Hancock Prospecting, has long provided her a platform to advocate for policies favouring industry and economic growth, aligning with Dutton’s vision. Political analysts suggest that her push for a bold, unapologetic conservative agenda could deepen internal party divisions but also galvanize its base. As the Liberals navigate their post-election strategy, Rinehart’s vision for a Trump-style revival will likely remain a focal point in the party’s rebuilding efforts, with implications for its future electoral prospects.

The Dutton landslide decent into one of Gina’s money mines could be the reason he is in the pits. Gina is not respected.
HAHAHAHA, NO SURPRISE that the thoroughly despised, absolutely appalling, self-serving, multi-billionaire avaricious elitist, Gina Swineheartless, goes out of her way to support that megalomaniacal misogynistic predator, Trump – a CONVICTED CRIMINAL – clearly Rinehart and her alpha-male, chest-beating “heroes” in the LNP have SO MUCH IN COMMON with that degenerate political psychopath – and NONE of it good!
Gina should stay out of political commentary. She is embarrassing herself.
There is no latent support for Trump style politics here.
Palmer completely crashed, despite overtly mimicking the political narrative of Trump.
Hanson is marginal and going nowhere.
There is no deep disenfranchised sentiment in Australia to plug into.
The Australian voting public is well educated and generally thinks beyond their narrow self interest.
It’s unlike the US.
The conservative side of politics needs to engage in a few years of deep reflection, and develop a policy structure and narrative that is relevant to Australia.
The “blame the media” response has little credibility when it is used by either side of politics
Rinehart: “Too many Aussies seem very short on understanding that new investment is needed to create revenue and living standards.”
Gina is short on understanding that Australians have more values than just making money and riding roughshod over others with no checks.
Gina, the Tuscan Salami!
Well…. She diddles her offspring of their inheritance and he seems reluctant to buy his kids a home.
Just sayin’ 🤷🏼♀️
WATCH OUT FOR THAT NASTY SNAKE BITE
The delusional grandiosity and arrogance of Gina Rinehart – I do believe she must be angry at the outcome of the Australian election because she didn’t get her own way. So temper tantrums all round on that right wing rag the Daily Mail. She says the Liberal Coalition need to stick with Trump-like policies couching this as a return to… wait for it ‘common sense and truth’. Meeeowww! She is going for double and double-down lines (oops LIES) of megalithic proportion!
This is the mining megalomaniac, who because she is filthy rich cocooned on her white cloud, calls most Australians, wait for it folks… ‘very short on understanding’, I do believe she means stupid given it’s not what she calls ‘rocket science’.
Clearly we have an expert here on rockets AND science lecturing us on common sense, morality and truth!
Here we have one very un-Australian desperately venting her anger and spending her money and mouth to hijack our Constitutional democracy and voice, cancel out the voting rights of millions of Australians, if she had the chance. Is it time she did a DNA test and started paying her taxes instead of making her billions off Australian resources off the back of government sponsored corporate welfare and foul mouthed oligarchic privilege?
Mind-boggling theft and plutocracy, mouth of an extinct flesh eating dinosaur, social morals of a maggot infested rattle snake from the Midwest plains of Planet America.
Ironic, when the News Corp empire and Sky News get to call the shots all well and good, but when it doesn’t go the way of Gina Rattlesnake Rinehart, the media (presumably the reliable minority independents and a few mediocre middle-sized tailgaters) get blamed for how Australians voted. One of those deep state double-down lies.

Oh, Gina’s having a big dummy spit!
Maybe she should start her own party if the Liberals decide to attempt to return to the centre of Australian politics. After all, it’s worked so well for Clive Palmer.
If you remember, it was Gina who was all over Barnaby Joyce when that suited her but it didn’t workout too well so she swapped her allegiance to Dutton : maybe she is just bad at character assessment.
As regards the media, give me a break. Most of our media is already right-wing that’s why they hate to see balance in the ABC or the Guarfian.
The coalition policies appeared to be all over the place from a nuclear policy that made no sense and was never explained or costed to a lot of nonsense about welcome to country, which flags he wants to stand in front of to incoherence on breaking up supermarkets, working from home bans and savage cuts to the public service (only in Canberra) and then a scare campaign on a new Voice.
Has Gina actually looked at the dog’s breakfast of policy offerings from the Liberal party – I don’t think the Nationals actually had any policies did they ?
Has it ever occured to her to, y’know, ask people why the LNP lost so badly, rather than pontificating from on high about how stupid and ignorant and intransigent we are?
A blubbery blimpy bonkbrained bully, the fatfrau of the west, is loud again, declaring selfinterested focussed reasons why she is frustrated at not having ALL the bloody sandpit. Has Dutton’s basic mediocrity and Joyce’s inebriations betrayed her drives to dominate? Not known for intellect, decency, general social ouitlook, the big’un tells us we are not clever… Hmmnn. We need more shortsighted suicidal stupidity…Trumpery!
Haha Gina’s dad set the scene for self-aggrandisement and duplicity and Gina was an apt learner and now exceeds her dad at every level of rich(her 70th mural and her objection to Namatjirra’s version).
Hopefully we are not as stupid as the septics and she hasn’t the political power, that she pays for in private, with the public?
Good one Dance of the cuckoos. The one I love that shows the politician’s disrespect of the intended purpose of their allowances and their penchant for rorting the system.
Gina flew Joyce to a wedding in India but he had to find his own way back. He had a stop in Kuala Lumpur, got in a taxi took a trip out and back and claimed the airfare for studying the entrance road to airports.
The oleaginous dragon of the West only knows shit and clay. Her father was handed it on a plate from which he slurped it all up after flavoring it with racist hatred. These greedy ignoramuses betrayed Oz and everyone in their path, except those toadies that sought to grow fat off their bile – like the slothful puppets seeking a sinecure, Dutton and Joyce and their band of irrelevants.
These fear breathing reptiles are not representative of the Oz spirit, and are widely despised. We are not mind-blown Americans who allow themselves to be conned by autocrats, christo-fascists and puppet kleptocrats like T-Rump and his flunkies. It’s plain to see from the Oz election results.
The very ugly, hateful dragon of the West ought crawl back into her cave. Likewise, the American Murdoch’s greedy, hateful media and its associated msm toadies, including another reprehensible reptilian from the West, the loser Stokes. They all ought climb back into their antediluvian dungeons, as the electorate has paid them no heed. They are a spent force of losers.
Patently Oz no longer fears these extractors, and realizes they are mere greasy blobs that feed on decent people to slake their own ignorant paranoid greed.
So Gina – and I know that you won’t read this – a predominantly right wing media reports what a right wing politician says and does, and then is responsible for him losing not only his seat but the election too?
Frankly that just demonstrates your complete disconnect from what is important to the “average” Australian voter.
As for the need to become more Trumpian, are you now saying that:
– child labour laws need to change?
– we should stop funding public schools?
– the PBS needs to be removed?
– women’s health is not that important?
– “non-compliant” news providers should lose their licence to tell us what is happening?
– we need to stop vacination of children because it causes autism?
– we need to place much higher tariffs on imported goods so that Aussie families pay more?
Please let us know! We await you “well thought through” arguments.
leefe, maybe the answer is that the puppet masters wanted the LNP to nose dive. Similar to how Bill Shorten got pushed out of Labor leadership by constant negative msm press. He was too capable, he had to go. It’s better to have a wet flag of a character in charge. Same with the Libs, push a dud to the front, one who will be rejected by most voters. Viola, Labor wins.
NO.
The puppet masters won. Now we will get more of their agenda, while looking like the public got their wish of a better govt. Enjoy your zero carbon future everyone.
Equity is one of the pillars of UN SDGs, the great levelling in progress.
Meanwhile once proud Aussie billionaire kardboard king now US resident upcycles himself at Hollywood Met Gala between snogs with royal prats Gina and Donald:

And Orwell sleeps on.
Yes, yes, please LNP take Gina’s self-serving advice to go further hard right and embrace Trumpism. That plus electing either Angus, Sussan or Dan as leader (or a combination of all three) will only add to your woes as you slowly realise that the chances of governing again will be pretty much zero.
@Herbert
‘Washington | Billionaire Anthony Pratt has pledged $US5 billion ($7.8 billion) to support President Donald Trump’s push to re-industrialise America, joining a group of corporate leaders visiting the White House to mark the administration’s first 100 days. Pratt, who became a permanent US resident last year and is now based in New York…’
Pratt, well he is what he is, a PRAT. But he is also a traitor. He has used Australian money, resources and empire to fund the Trump administration – AU$7.8 billion, instead of investing in Australia where he made it. And now he is no longer an Australian technically, since the US do not permit dual citizenship.
He, like Gina are using their wealth acquired in Australia on the back of Australians to undermine and defeat our way of life, our national sovereignty and choice, interfering in our electoral process and democratic rights. The very same as Trump himself, the user and abuser, the exploiter who doesn’t pay his bills, incites insurrection, a serious criminal and serial offender who dodges the law. This is the man and the country they have sold out to and given their allegiance.
We will remember them with cardinal disinterest, they have made their bed, but we will remember the both of them.
Couldn’t agree more, to the last letter, Jon.
Hell Kenni, were you overseas 2013/16/19 when little billy lost the last two winnable elections – 2016 because the cunning libs changed to fresh blood and picked the copperman, what a disappointment but little billy in opposition??? they libs did it again but it wouldn’t have worked with a drover’s dog as head of labor and down he went. 6 years after being elected as leader by us but discarded by tanya’s mob we hot a winner and we have won twice.
Ian Joyner,
Didn’t Burgess and McTeeth eat Gina the female Tuscan Salami?
