In July 2025, the U.S. Department of Justice and FBI dropped a bombshell memo on the Jeffrey Epstein case, declaring no evidence of a “client list,” blackmail of powerful figures, or murder – findings that shattered years of conspiracy theories peddled by President Donald Trump and his allies. After campaign promises of explosive revelations, including Attorney General Pam Bondi’s February 2025 Fox News claim of a “client list sitting on my desk,” the memo’s stark conclusions ignited a firestorm of hypocrisy, denials, and blame-shifting. As MAGA loyalists Laura Loomer and Nick Fuentes accuse Trump of betrayal, and Democrats such as Jamie Raskin demand answers, the controversy exposes a fractured movement and raises a chilling question: could this scandal unravel Trump’s political empire?
A Trail of Broken Promises
The Epstein saga, long a magnet for speculation due to the financier’s ties to global elites, has been a political weapon for Trump since his 2019 death. During his 2024 campaign, Trump leaned into conspiracies, hinting at a shadowy “client list” of powerful figures tied to Epstein’s crimes, promising supporters transparency that would “shock the world.” Bondi, then a campaign surrogate, amplified this narrative, claiming on Fox News in February 2025 that she had seen such a list. Yet, the DOJ’s July 2025 memo – released under Trump’s own administration – flatly contradicted these claims, stating Epstein died by suicide, left no blackmail records, and had no verifiable list of high-profile clients. The memo’s release of previously public files, rather than new revelations, left MAGA supporters reeling, with X users like @ThePanicanKing accusing Trump of “betraying his own base.”
This hypocrisy – promising earth-shattering disclosures only to endorse a memo that shuts them down – lies at the heart of the controversy. Trump’s July 12, 2025, Truth Social post, defending Bondi as doing a “FANTASTIC JOB” and urging MAGA to “stay united,” reads as a desperate deflection. His call to dismiss critics as “selfish people” harming his administration “all over a guy who never dies” sidesteps his own role in fueling the very conspiracies now backfiring. Bondi’s silence since her Fox News boast further underscores the contradiction, with Rolling Stone reporting her claims as a “bait-and-switch” that misled supporters.
A MAGA Movement at War with Itself
The memo’s fallout has fractured Trump’s base, turning allies into adversaries in a vicious blame game. Far-right activist Laura Loomer, once a staunch Trump defender, branded Bondi’s handling of the files “unprofessional” on X, demanding her resignation. White nationalist Nick Fuentes went further, calling the DOJ’s findings a “lie” and accusing Trump of abandoning his base. X posts reflect this disillusionment, where some sarcastically noted the memo’s timing, suggesting Trump’s DOJ is “protecting powerful friends,” including the president himself, given his documented ties to Epstein, such as 1997 and 2000 Mar-a-Lago photos with Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Meanwhile, figures like Tucker Carlson and Steve Bannon, who once pushed Epstein murder theories, now deflect, with Carlson vaguely demanding “truth” and Bannon railing against a “swamp cover-up.”
This infighting reveals a deeper hypocrisy: MAGA’s loudest voices, who built careers on Epstein conspiracies, now grapple with their own role in inflating expectations. Loomer and Fuentes, once complicit in spreading unverified claims, accuse Trump of the same deception they championed, while dodging accountability for their part. The result is a movement eating itself, with grassroots supporters on X mocking the “MAGA meltdown” as “totally normal” for a Trump-led DOJ protecting elites.
Democrats and the Blame Game
The controversy has also drawn Democrats into the fray, escalating the blame game. House Democrat Jamie Raskin demanded the release of any Epstein files mentioning Trump, accusing Bondi of shielding the president. This move, while strategic, mirrors MAGA’s own politicisation of the case, as both sides wield Epstein’s shadow for leverage. Democrats’ calls for transparency, however, highlight a critical point: Trump’s past ties to Epstein, including documented social interactions, raise questions about his administration’s motives. While no evidence links Trump to Epstein’s crimes, the perception of a cover-up, fueled by his own campaign rhetoric, amplifies distrust.
Could This Be Trump’s Downfall?
The Epstein files controversy poses a rare threat to Trump’s political dominance, though his resilience cannot be underestimated. The fracturing of his MAGA base, evident in X posts like @gtconway3d’s “Trump’s in deep trouble,” could erode his influence as loyalists like Loomer and Fuentes peel away. If new documents surface – despite the DOJ’s claim of none – Trump’s Epstein ties could face renewed scrutiny, potentially triggering legal or reputational damage ahead of the 2026 midterms. Democrats’ pressure, led by Raskin, might amplify this, painting Trump as complicit in a cover-up.
Yet, Trump’s history of surviving scandals suggests another path. He could spin the narrative, blaming a “deep state” DOJ or deflecting to Democratic “witch hunts,” rallying his base as he did post-impeachments. The memo’s closure of the case might also quieten speculation, allowing Trump to move on. Still, the loss of MAGA’s trust, coupled with public skepticism – evident in X’s growing anti-Trump sentiment – could weaken his grip, especially if economic or political pressures mount.
A Crisis of Trust
The Epstein files saga is more than a political scandal; it’s a crisis of trust in leadership and institutions. Trump’s hypocrisy – promising transparency while endorsing a closed case – undermines his credibility. His allies’ denials and MAGA’s blame game expose a movement built on fragile conspiracies, now crumbling under its own weight. As the public, from social media users to congressional Democrats, demands answers, the controversy underscores a broader truth: when leaders exploit distrust for gain, the fallout risks consuming them. Whether this marks Trump’s downfall or another escape remains uncertain, but the cracks in his empire are impossible to ignore.

The true beauty of this shitstorm is that, after saying these purported files do not exist, the Apricot Anusmouth then said they were written by Hillary Clinton, James Comey and Barack Obama, amongst others.
They’re doing everything they can to distract the base from Epstein, but so far it isn’t working. We can but hope it never does.
If Trump wanted Epstein’s client list to be released, it would be. Republicans pull SHOCK LATE-NIGHT MOVE in Epstein files vote. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IqXvpo7HJA
Delicious. Apparently both Bannon and former FoxNews employee Carlson, both allegedly Kremlin sock puppets, are going loopy….demanding something…..
Not unrelated in image is Melania Trump who apparently ‘informed’ Trump quite directly, after Trump had recent conversation &/or negotiation on telephone with Putin, that the latter then bombed civilian targets in Ukraine, again…..
Maybe she was influential on Trump’s decision to resume arms shipments for air defence of cities, and offensive weapons too?
Melania is Slovene (between Croatia, Hungary & Italy) where ppl loathe Putin and his regime; like to think she had some choice language for Trump including dumb, naive, weak and even complicit?
If the photo was real it would be worth million so AI????
WOW, it appears that not only is that diabolical political psychopath, Trump, a recidivist misogynistic predator, a pathological liar, a SIX TIMES’ BANKRUPT, a born-to-rule megalomaniacal fascist and a remorseless CONVICTED CRIMINAL, his appalling long-time association with that depraved child-molesting demon, the late notorious Jeffrey Epstein, gives evidence that Trump is, in addition, a predatory paedophile with absolutely zero conscience and not one drop of moral fibre! My God, they just don’t get worse! Trump is, beyond any doubt, the worst, most depraved, corrupt, divisive and dangerous POTUS in American history! FFS, America, wake up and IMPEACH this monster AGAIN!
wam:
It’s not AI. There are literally hundreds of genuine photos of Trump with Epstein.
Trump is a great fan of Mario Puzo’s The Godfather trilogy and he takes to heart the modus operandi of Vito Corleone.
First, according to Vito Corleone, to succeed and dominate you must buy off the politicians or in some way neutralise their influence : Trump chose to takeover the political system of one party, in his case he chose the Republican Party as it best represented his ideology, this assisted him in the second Corleone principle, controlling the judiciary.
In the US the only way you can effectively neuter the judiciary is to be in charge of judicial selection. Ideally you need to have the power over the selection of judges to the Supreme Court [as they control and overrule the lower courts]. The US President has this power.
So, as long as Trump can maintain the dual Corleone principles of dominating politics and the judiciary, he is safe but the one thing that Vito Corleone couldn’t guard against were his own insiders, those jealous of his power and influence and of course the passage of time : Corleone first got a bullet from which, like Trump , he survived but he then died of a heart attack.
wam, that photo has been around for 25 years.
This is good.

This old topic is and was a simmering stinker. May it engulf and choke Trump and his following entirely. Many are in it, royalty rubbish along with numerous leeches. Lying, deception, suppression, untrustworthy behaviour, fixations and filth, all there, ready for Hollywood soon. May the foul house of Trumpian republicanism get levelled, fast.
I commented, but lost my comment. It’s just that I fear that this is all just a distraction from the real issue – the nationally and globally disastrous Trumpian political regime. The cruelties and injustices to the poor, to immigrants, to education. The madness of diplomacy seen as real estate deals, with tactics of bullying bombing, sanctions and tariffs mucking-about, making impoverished European countries pay $billions for American weapons.
Of course it’ll be fun watching Ghislaine Maxwell manipulate this situation to her advantage, while adroitly trying not to get herself disappeared from the planet, (She IS the only living witness to the whole Epstein story).
But let’s not forget the main necessity – bringing the catastrophic Trumpian era to an end. Trump is just a two-year old psyche crying out for some adult help – “How bad do I have to be, before someone stops me?”
America, or the world, is not going to let this go. Chump has painted himself into a corner now so it will be interesting to see how he gets out of it since it is pretty much a given that he is all over the files as one of the major players in all of this.
Should he release all the files all the names would have to be redacted to protect himself and his friends/donors. Just redacting all the names will not be acceptable to anyone. Even if he releases everything unredacted he won’t be able to pardon himself or anyone else because he and his friends/donors will be done.
Should Maxwell die of a mysterious suicide like Epstein it will only make everything worse.
Perhaps Chump should mysteriously die of suicide so everything can then be released.
I think we can pretty much all agree that The Donald is scared absolutely non-orange that he and his proclivities feature prominently in the files. By acting like the nasty child he is and throwing tantrums about Epstein all he is going to do is inflame the problem and probably drive some of the MAGA away. His stupidity is boundless.
An important essay, thank you, Michael.
What’s the little piece of verse again… what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive? Looking forward to things intensifying, and if so, endless tantrums from the liar-in-chief.
[and GL, kudos for a ripper upload earlier today. Most enjoyable.]
Thank you, Canguro.
I’m currently working on a sequel – Trump attempting to heal the MAGA fracture by pleading them to move on.
