Durbin, Duckworth split again on Israel’s Gaza genocide

As the media fixates on Trump’s tariffs, a deafening silence surrounds the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where countless lives continue to be claimed. Beyond the headlines, other critical stories in the U.S. remain overshadowed, including widespread opposition to arms sales to Israel and the growing frustration among constituents demanding accountability. One of those constituents is Walt Zlotow of Illinois, whose Senator is all but cheering on the arms sales.

It’s often stated men cause all the wars so we’d be much better off with women leaders. That’s certainly not substantiated by my Illinois Senator, Tammy Duckworth.

She is one of the most virulent war supporters in the US Congress. She even reached Congress by celebrating and exploiting her experience helping Uncle Sam kill hundreds of thousands in our illegal, immoral and criminal Iraq war. Once in power, Duckworth has spent the last 12 years voting for every one of the trillions of dollars America has spent destroying life for millions of innocents in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Somalia, Niger, among others, who pose no threat to the US Homeland whatsoever.

Oblivious to America’s decline as the world’s unipolar power, Duckworth endlessly touts US exceptionalism without an iota of doubt or concern for the damage America ravages worldwide.

But it’s her ghoulish support of Israeli genocide of Palestinians in Gaza that is most disheartening. She joined all but 15 of her Democratic colleagues to keep $8.8 billion in genocide weapons flowing to Israel. Genocide opposing Senator, Bernie Sanders offered two Senate Joint Resolutions to stop the weapons flow which violate international law. The weapons shipments also violate US laws, the Foreign Assistance Act and the Arms Export Control Act which prohibit America from supplying weapons to countries that violate internationally recognised human rights or block US humanitarian aid. Duckworth, it appears, cares no more about international and US law than she does about destroying every aspect of decent life for 2,300,000 Palestinians in Gaza her tens of billions in bombs have turned into rubble.

To his credit, her colleague Senator Dick Durbin voted for both of Sanders joint resolutions.

Last November, Duckworth and Durbin voted similarly on Sander’s three joint resolutions to stop $20 billion in weapons to further the Gaza genocide. That’s $28.8 billion for genocide that Duckworth has voted for in just five months.

We’ll likely never know what motivates Duckworth to put genocide support at the top of her congressional resume. Time for Sen. Duckworth to channel Sen. Dick Durbin… ’Stop it.’
