An Important Update on the Future of The AIMN

We Need Your Help to Keep the Lights On

How a small, collective effort from our community can secure the future of independent Australian media.

To our wonderful AIMN community,

We’re writing to you today with a level of transparency that we believe our readers deserve. For over a decade, The AIMN has been a platform for fearless, independent journalism and commentary, thanks entirely to you.

The last year, however, has presented us with a significant challenge. As many of you know, we were forced to migrate to a new site after a catastrophic failure with our old one. While we’re proud of the new home we’ve built, the technical and setup costs were substantial and ongoing. This has left us with a financial gap that, despite our best efforts, we can no longer bridge alone.

The Situation in a Nutshell:

Simply put, our current monthly income is about $500 short of what we need to cover our essential operational costs. Without closing this gap, the long-term future of The AIMN is under threat.

The Solution is Simpler Than You Might Think:

We’ve done the maths, and the solution is within our grasp. We don’t need a single large benefactor. What we need is our community.

If just 100 of our readers committed to a monthly donation of $5, our immediate future would be secured.

That’s less than the cost of a coffee. A small amount, but when pooled together, it becomes the lifeblood of a vital independent voice.

A Heartfelt Thank You:

Before we go any further, we must express our profound gratitude to our existing supporters who already donate. You are the reason we are still here today, and we could not have made it this far without your unwavering belief in our mission. You are the bedrock of this network.

Why Your Support Matters More Than Ever:

In an era of media consolidation and sensationalism, The AIMN provides something increasingly rare: a platform for diverse Australian voices, grounded in facts and a passion for genuine democratic discourse. Your support isn’t just about keeping a website online; it’s about protecting a space for reasoned debate, holding power to account, and ensuring that important stories don’t go untold.

How You Can Help:

If you value The AIMN and want to see it continue for another decade, please consider setting up a small, recurring monthly donation.

  • The Gold Standard: A $5 monthly donation. If 100 people do this, we hit our goal.
  • If you can give more: A $10 or $20 monthly donation would, of course, be transformative and allow us to plan for the future with more confidence.
  • One-off Donation: If a monthly commitment isn’t possible, a one-off donation of any amount provides crucial breathing room.

This isn’t a plea; it’s an invitation. An invitation to become a foundational part of The AIMN and to help us write the next chapter. We have never been more proud of the content we produce or more grateful for the community that gathers here.

Thank you for your time, your consideration, and for being part of The AIMN.

With sincere thanks,

The AIMN Team.

  1. Thank you, Truthie.

Chris, for bank transfers our account number is above the Donate button at the bottom of the article. I’ll subscribe you in two shakes.

  2. Have placed a monthly sub via paypal – should start appearing tomorrow I believe.

  3. Dearest Michael and AIMN Team, I’m in and like GL will donate
monthly. Thank you for your honesty and transparency.

  4. I have a direct monthly payment of $15 to Michael West Media. Is the AIMN under this umbrella, or one and the same? I very much value this independent news site, especially living in WA where Kerry Stokes and his print and tv media are so “in your face”.

  5. Hello, Leona.

No, this is independent of other sites. Michael and Carol – who had a blog called Cafe Whispers – formed The AIMN in January 2013 with five or six other blog sites.

The others dropped out over the years and now it is solely run by Michael and Carol (and helpers).

  6. I’m stuffed on computers- pay ins and trying to obtain the right data to allow for that.

I’m probably stuffed after microsoft brings in its new platform in a week or two anyway, apparently my computer is mot compatible and the hald wits who run it wont give the info on what I can do, short of spending money on a new computer.

For me, a curse and a nightmare. so it will back to reading books for me. May be I’m dumb, it wont mqtter, no doubt i’ll kark it if I spend money and get things working again.

  7. Michael, I’d be surprised if your bank account isn’t swelling a little by now.

  8. All I can say is I’m humbled by the response. It means a lot to Carol and I that we mean a lot to you.

Harry, as far as monthly commitments go we’re halfway there. One-off donations have been an added bonus. The money is going out as fast as it comes in, going to tech companies that do all the work that makes this site run. A lot of the features are paid on a monthly basis, such as website security, SEO, and too many to mention. Down the track we’d like to have the site re-designed to look like our original site.

  9. Michael – I tried using the donation button at the end of this article, but it simply wouldn’t work. Thought you should know. Anyway I went to my bank account and donated just a one-off amount. Trust there is success for the AIM Network.

  10. Michael, Skippy just coughed up some well-masticated Kangaroo Grass (Themeda triandra) and sent it your way. Apologies, it’s the best a macropod can do.

  11. I have responded to the appeal from Michael on behalf of the AIM Network team.

The Australian newspaper on behalf of the Murdoch press is undermining our national sovereignty by fostering links with corporate military industrial complexes and multinational tax dodgers on the annual list from ABC news: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-11-01/companies-that-paid-no-tax-in-2022-23-revealed-profit-shifting/104545520

Using front page space in the Australian to communicate warnings from the National Director of Intelligence Services is not professionalism in journalism and gleans the support of yesterday’s editorial (8 October 2025).

I keep an informal watch on The Australian at the supermarket but never buy this publication.

I have not cracked the codes used by lobbyists with political insiders and registered mainstream political parties to continue to advocate this conventional nonsense as mainstream news.

The US Company Cubic in defence and public transport ticketing continues to expand its operations here and globally.

Across the Tasman, Radio NZ speaks out about Cubic (https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/political/567505/can-the-national-ticketing-project-get-back-on-track 25 July 2025):
Financial red flags being raised about Cubic
US defence and transport contractor Cubic has developed the ticketing overhaul with Waka Kotahi.

On 9 July the financial agency Fitch Ratings downgraded the company’s credit rating from B negative to triple C negative – rating which indicated that there was a substantial credit risk for the technology business.

The change was due to the company completing a restructure of its debt.

In a statement to RNZ, Cubic said that it had reached an agreement with its financial sponsors and lenders that would enhance its liquidity, strengthen its capital structure and position it to accelerate its strategic investments.

I hope to write an article relating to Cubic Defense and Transport when my research has been completed.

  12. One off amount done Michael.
Might take a day or two to register at your end.
    Best wishes.

  13. Michael,
one off amount paid. I refuse to use Paypal because of the activities of its founders.

  14. I support the site a little each month, but gee guys have you thought of sending a daily digest with the links to the articles instead of the 20 or so emails a day you are currently sending? Going to unsub if it continues
