The world’s failure to protect the children of Gaza is a stain on us all, says aid organisation Plan International
Children should never be targets: Plan International calls for full humanitarian access and accountability following UN report.
Plan International is deeply alarmed by the latest findings of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and Israel, which concludes that Palestinian children have been deliberately targeted and killed.
Countless more children have been injured, displaced, traumatised, and denied the safety every child deserves.
In reaction to the report, Plan International’s Global Humanitarian Director, Unni Krishnan, said:
“Children should never be targets.
“Behind every statistic is a child who should be learning, laughing, playing, and dreaming of their future. Instead, children in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory are growing up under bombardment, in fear and uncertainty, without access to the most basic necessities.
“No child should go to sleep hungry. No child should fear that they will not survive the night.
“The world’s failure to protect the children of Gaza is a stain on us all. There is never any justification for the killing of a child.
“We call on all parties to uphold their obligations under International Humanitarian Law, including the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure such as schools and hospitals.
“The international community must use every means available to ensure sustained, predictable and unimpeded humanitarian access to Gaza, and to work towards a just and lasting peace.
“The world can no longer look away. There is never any justification for the killing of a child.”

Albanese Labor will forever stand condemned for their complicity in the genocide of Gazan children.
The world will continue to look away. It’s not something I could ever explain. And it has stolen all trust in my fellow human beings. Albo and almost all our Australian politicians bar a handful, will never be forgiven. Alongside the savages of Israel, they’re the scum of the earth. I wish I believed in Karma.
Ive beeen pretty much labor for most of life…
However, someone recently put up on soc media, “Labor never fails to disappoint”.
The Greens get my vote because only they have had the guts to open their mouths.
No, I do agree that a lot of pressure has been put on them from foreign interests local oligarchs and media; to keep their integrity they needed to refuse these dark and sinister influences.
Seventeen doctors and nurses from Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States have reported that they repeatedly treated Palestinian children in Gaza with single gunshot wounds to the head, genital area or upper body chest—injuries. Fifteen of the 17 doctors described treating 114 children under the age of 15 who presented with a single bullet wound to those vital areas. It is clear that the wounds were not collateral injury but were targeted by IDF snipers.
We must demand that the Australian government immediately take action through the UN to declare Israel a rogue state and impose severe international sanctions.
What more can we do ?
Finally finding my ‘tribe’ in speaking out for the children of the Genocide
. I, too, a long supporter of ALP cannot imagine voting for them again….and let me make it clear I am a Democratic Socialist and can never vote RWNJ or Capitalist cruelty EVER!
ALL children must be protected and guarded and helped wherever they are against Genocide, Tyranny, abuse, predation, starvation and ignorant cruel adults.
As a grandmother I ache for the children in fear, pain and terror
So disappointed and despairing of the Zionist infiltration of Australian politics. It is DANGEROUS to us all, but especially #TheChildren
“…and the world fails to protect the children of Gaza…”
The tragedy of the women and children of Gaza at the hands of the rapacious Israelis (yes, Israeli citizens, the IDF, Netanyahu, Ben Gvir and Smotrich), is the greatest example of wilful destruction of a defenceless nation that has occurred this century.
Well, maybe not as we don’t exactly know what has happened in Sudan and the Congo although these appear to be local civil wars, not and invasion by abelligerant neighbouring nation.
That said we don’t hear much about the continual deadly IDF exploits in Lebanon, particularly in the south of Lebanon. The attached link gives some inkling of what it means to live in and be driven from Lebanese sovereign territory. I cry for the innocence of these delightful Lebanese children who just want to be children.
There are many Australians of Lebanese descent – Albanese and Wong: why won’t you do the right thing and represent the interests of these people rather that pump millions of AUD into the treasure chests of disloyal dual citizen Australian Jewish Zionists?
Note the armoured bull dozer – the IDF has several of these with every invading military unit – they go about systematically destroying Lebanese houses and other community structures with the totally mad belief that Israel is the chosen nation to occupy this land.
This, also, is intolerable and must be brought to the attention of the Israeli Ambassador in Canberra who must be asked “why should you not be expelled from Australia?”

@ All above, if I can find $75.00 to support these efforts for six months, what does that say for everyone else in this country? We pay more for the price of a cup of coffee.
I’ve supported Save The Children – I’ve met the promoters mother – and Avaaz who are funding community kitchens in Gaza and Sudan, I know what it’s like to be hungry, homeless, abandoned and marginalized by what’s meant to protect us.
