Caitlin Johnstone’s customary finger on the Zionist pulse is how I was first exposed to the telling presentation by Sarah Hurwitz to the Jewish Federations of North America General Assembly on 16 November 2025. Hurwitz was a senior adviser in the Obama administration (from which she was appointed as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council).

Says Hurwitz, young people no longer read but are hooked on social media. There, with respect to Gaza, they confront a ‘wall of carnage’. Hurwitz laments that: So I want to give data and information and facts and arguments, and they are just seeing in their minds: carnage. And I sound obscene.” (Grown up) rationality has seemingly succumbed to (teenage) unprocessed sense impressions.

More, Holocaust education has been turned against us because our own young kin are applying the role of the evil oppressor, (Jewish) god forbid, to Israel itself.

British philosophy academic Lorna Finlayson (New Left Review’s Side Car) chimes in with respect to the Hurwitz performance:

The true meaning of the Holocaust, we might infer, is not that it was bad because the strong were hurting the weak, but because Jews were the victims. When the victims are Black or Palestinian, it’s different.

Peculiar that Hurwitz imagines that ‘the data and information and facts and arguments’ at her command contradict the youngster’s visualising the ‘wall of carnage’. The ‘data and information and facts and arguments’ that I am familiar with are consistent with the visuals.Finlayson concurs:

The trouble for Hurwitz, however, is that if the pictures aren’t on her side, the ‘facts’ and ‘data’ are even less so. The more we see of them, the worse Israel looks.

Dead children, medicos, journalists, aid workers – an impressive and mounting tally. Ah, and the infrastructure! The landscape obliterated. Bradford University’s Paul Rogers, interviewed in April 2025, estimated that 70,000 tonnes of explosives had been dropped on Gaza to that date.

Hurwitz waxes mystical:

“The problem is, we’re not just a religionWe’re a nation. Civilization. Tribe. Peoplehood. But most of all we’re a family. The seven million people in Israel, they are not my co-religionists, they are my siblings.

‘The seven million people in Israel’ what? Hurwitz is referring to Jewish people in Israeland, presumably, Jewish settlers who don’t live in Israel (add Russian ersatz Jews assimilated to up the numbers). Hurwitz conflates the local Jewish population and the state of Israel. The others don’t exist.

Civilisation I don’t think so. ‘Tribe’ is correct – this is tribalism writ large. Yet the bad eggs, the founders and successive leaders of apartheid Israel, are dictating to the tribe the terms in their entirety on which tribalism will prevail. For Hurwitz – Israel is us, period. Being Jewish, you’re in the tribe on Israel’s terms period. What do you think, at some expense, we send you to Jewish day school and Hebrew school for?

Finlayson again:

The problem [for Hurwitz] with Palestinian children is not that they are evil [as perthe claims of Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant] but that they are a PR challenge.

How in the world could the bloodthirsty Zionist enterprise, acting with impunity, face a PR challenge?

The Zionist PR machine is an enterprise to behold. It is probably historically unprecedented in the breadth and density of its lobbying and propaganda entities. The character of the matrix is well captured in a review of American academic Harriet Malinowitz’s recent book Selling Israel: Zionism, Propaganda, and the Uses of Hasbara, from whence this Malinowitz summary is extracted:

[The hasbara, which can be] bluntly described as propaganda, but in fact comprises a huge network of government ministries, nongovernmental organizations, nonprofit agencies and charities, campus organizations, volunteer groups, watchdog bodies, professional associations, media networks, fundraising operations, and educational programs that aim to fortify a Zionist-defined notion of Jewishness in persons within Israel, the United States, and other countries.

Quite. And that’s just for Jewry itself, to keep it on the straight and narrow. The network addressed to the non-compliance and ignorance of non-Jews is something else.

Attached below is a list, inevitably incomplete, of organisations that one has been able to compile from public sources. It is a scrappy matrix, even anarchic but layered, influenced by national Jewish communities’ size and history, and by individual initiatives. It is complemented by Israeli state authority initiatives.

In total, the resources devoted to selling Israel and warding off and attacking its detractors have been and are formidable. Do Zionists have time in their life for anything else?

There’s an anomaly here. If Israel is so innately good, why does it need so many resources to proselytise it, to defend it and to dissimulate about its character?

The juggernaut has evidently had impressive results, of which the following samples.

The US Congress is a Zionist-occupied entity. The mass murderer Benjamin Netanyahu is invited into the hallowed premises (Joint: 10 July 1996, 24 May 2011, 3 March 2015, 25 July 2024; House: 12 September 2002), debauches it with his mendacity and is met with standing ovations.

The EU-Israel Association Agreement ‘entered into force’ in June 2000. The Agreement accords Israel considerable privileges. The background is here. The 154 page document is here. Of integral relevance is Article 2:

“Relations between the Parties, as well as all the provisions of the Agreement itself, shall be based on respect for human rights and democratic principles, which guides their internal and international policy and constitutes an essential element of this Agreement.”

Israel is an apartheid state by construction, so how could this trade Agreement ever get on the drawing board, leave alone come to fruition?

Israel remains ensconced in global sporting entities, as exemplified with soccer. There is currently pressure on UEFA and FIFA to exclude Israel but the governing bodies have resisted to date. Russia has been sanctioned. Israel remains in the bosom of global sport.

Ditto culture. Eurovision’s sponsor, the European Broadcasting Union, is also under pressure to exclude Israel but has ignored it (this is ‘a non-political event’). Russia is immediately expelled in 2022. Israel remains in Eurovision. Israel has won Eurovision four times, with more recent questions arising of dubious voting integrity and the transparent ‘soft power’ leverage by Israel of the platform to detract from the ongoing genocide.

Perusing the list, one can observe select categories.

1. Some early organisations began as charities to support Jewish communities in need. Amongst these, there has been a general trend to turn towards support for the state of Israel – sometimes auxiliary, sometimes central. Some latterday organisations are formally Jewish community support-oriented but add Israel to their charter.

2. Some organisations stand out with respect to the influence of their operations. Uniquely there is the Jewish Agency for Israel, in Mandatory Palestine, which, with the Jewish National Council, were the nuclei for the state of Israel after 1948.

Singularly important are the dominant organisations in particular countries, not least AIPAC in the US, the Board of Deputies of British Jews, and CRIF in France.

The power of AIPAC puts it in a league of its own. AIPAC exerts an enormous influence on the US Congress, not least through funding for and against sitting members and candidates, and fostering Israel junkets. AIPAC funding contributed to the defeat of long-serving Illinois Representative Paul Findley in 1982. Findley’s contemporary and fellow activist Pete McCloskey, California Representative (1967-83) was perennially under attack from the Zionist lobby. AIPAC and other Jewish organisations funding facilitated the defeat of long-time Georgia Representative Cynthia McKinney and Alabama Representative Earl Hilliard, both in 2002 primaries. AIPAC funding defeated Maryland Congresswoman Donna Edwards, seeking re-election to a seat she previously held, in 2022. AIPAC funding defeated Missouri Representative Cori Bush and New York Representative Jaamal Bowman, both in primaries in 2024. Apparently AIPAC ‘invested’ $45 million in the November 2024 elections, half of which went to defeating Bush and Bowman. AIPAC conferences present a ghoulish spectacle in which Congress and government members bow down before AIPAC’s commitment to the imperatives of a foreign rogue state. (More details regarding the US Israel lobby are outlinedin Serge Halimi’sIs the United States’ patience with Israel running out?’, Le Monde Diplomatique, December 2025.)

3. A discernible category covers Christian Zionist organisations and Jewish organisations seeking amity with and support from Christian groups, not least Evangelicals. Christians United for Israel (US) is clearly the most significant of this grouping, with CUFI claiming over 10 million members. Israel and Zionism evidently value this alliance in terms of the numerical heft that it brings.

Israeli academic Tom Ziv performed a quantitative analysis of the size of evangelical Christian Zionist populations in 18 Latin American countries (Evangelicalism and Support for Israel in Latin America’, Politics & Religion, 2022). He found a link between the size of such groups and the country’s support for Israel as reflected in UN votes, with such groups evidently having a direct impact on their country’s foreign policy. Being a ‘true’ value-free academic, he declines to articulate the ‘policy implications’, although the Israeli authorities would be thoroughly aware of the implications for hasbara PR funding.

As mainstream protestant churches were reducing their support for Israel (tangibly in divesting denomination-related investments from Israel-related corporations and activities), so also there had been some small shift against whole-hearted support for Israel amongst young evangelicals. The Bethlehem Institute for Peace and Justices’ biannual ‘Christ at the Checkpoint’ conference, first held in 2010, heralds a counter-agenda from within the evangelical camp, spooking Israeli Zionist sources who (in 2014) labelled this movement an ’evangelical intifada’. The Bethlehem Bible College (established in 1979), BIPJ’s sponsor, has been attacked by the ever-reliable Jerusalem Post as spreading ‘anti-Israel propaganda’.

After 7 October, the US Christian Zionist lobby upped its support for Israel ‘under threat’, ramping up eschatological interpretations. Israel’s well-financed push (including from Israeli settlers directly) for Christian Zionist support has incorporated the ‘Global South’ (Latin America, Africa, Asia, the Pacific) as well, but everywhere a trickle amongst this movement globally have continued to question previous unqualified allegiances because of the ongoing barbarism in Gaza.

4. Organisations, or divisions therein, whose focus is on converting criticism of Israel into antisemitism. These constitute the specialist hasbara outfits of the omnipresent antisemitism industry.

5. Campus-oriented organisations. There are organisations fostering Jewish ‘togetherness’, enhancing ‘Jewishness’, most notably Hillel. Becomes Hillel International, it is unrepentantly Zionist – as a consequence fostering some anti-Zionist spinoffs on US Campuses under a ‘Judaism On Our Own Terms’ umbrella.

Then there are singularly focused ‘attack dogs’ like Campus Watch. The official state-enabled repression of anti-Israel protests and anti-Israel opinion on campus has emboldened the campus-oriented Israel-firsters. Naturally, the university campus is a key battleground for ideas and opinion with the implicit stamp of respectability. From a Zionist perspective, not least with the high status of some anti-Zionist and/or Palestinian scholars, a critical take on Israel has been allowed to fester for too long. University Presidents, academic staff and students have been casualties.

6. There are the Country X’ – Israel Chambers of Commerce. Seemingly innocuous, they can be a key focal point for economic (trade and investment deals) and ultimate political influence through the medium of business leaders and corporate interaction in regular gatherings and inter-country missions. The Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce actively functions on this broader palette. Ultra-Zionist Jillian Segal, appointed Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism in 2024, has been an especially active player in this particular domain of soft power.

7. A handful of linkages have a technical or scientific exchange orientation (Israeli ‘knowhow’). Such are the Israel Innovation Network (ILAN) in Mexico, the Caribbean Israel Leadership Coalition, and the SIGNAL Group’s involvement with Chinese institutions. This is soft power at its most sophisticated.

8. Some organisations claim progressive credentials and egalitarian intent but render unqualified support for Israel. For example, The World Union for Progressive Judaism clams itself the central hub that connects Reform, Liberal, Progressive, and Reconstructionist Judaism around the world while upholding the State of Israel as the center of the Jewish people and Jewish identity. The WUPJ aims to provide innovative platforms and tools to advance Progressive Jewish values .

The British organisation René Cassin (renecassin.org) promotes universal human rights but that lawyerly concern doesn’t extend to Palestinians under Occupation and assault.

So also the National Council of Jewish Women of Australia. Feminist and Zionist – how so? The NCJWA supports: ‘Promoting gender equality, women’s rights and empowerment’, and ‘Encouraging mutual respect between groups and opposing all forms of racism’. The NCJWA’s omnipresent spokesperson, Lynda Ben-Menashe visits Israel and the Occupied Territories but is blind to the dead hand of the racist murderous Israeli state over all of it – women and children being major victims. Ben-Menashe, cherry-picking a handful of nasties amongst the tens of thousands, condemns the 3 August 2025 massive Sydney Harbour Bridge walk:

Though nominally for humanity, this march also gave voice to ignorance, hypocrisy and hate. So many of us watched the march in a state of deep distress. In our eyes it represented another 90,000 steps towards the hateful and deliberate exclusion of our people from the human family.

Finally, the NCJWA’s Ben-Menashe is exclusionary towards the sisterhood itself. Ben-Menashe excoriates, indeed excommunicates, Sarah Schwartz, principled and courageous co-founding executive officer of the anti-Zionist (Ben-Menashe: ‘so-called’) Jewish Council of Australia. Schwartz is a long-time human rights lawyer and knows of what she speaks.

Other such organisations are specifically oriented to equal access of all Israelis and Palestinians to services. However, their orientation is to accept and work, without apology, within the current structure of apartheid Israel and its tyrannous Occupation of Palestinian lands. Such is the case, for example, of Project Rozana, a medical assistance organisationoriginating in Australia. Rozana has been criticised by the Australian Palestinian Advocacy Network: ‘This organisation is not a neutral humanitarian initiative – it is a political project designed to normalise Israeli apartheid.’ Following 7 October 2023, Rozana’s ongoing efforts have been overwhelmed by the carnage, exposing its work as a bandaid on a medical crisis of monumental proportions, denying the source of the problem.

The scale of the unrepentant pro-Israel support network defies comprehension.

Israeli-born (Jewish) academic Omer Bartov bears witness to the scale and implications of the denial. A genocide expert, Bartov claims that Israel’s involvement in Gaza since October 2023 is unequivocally genocidal in character (I’m a Scholar of Genocide. I Know It When I See It’, New York Times, 3,800 words ‘Guest Essay’; paywall). The widespread denial of this designation by officialdom threatens the system of international law itself. Bartov is persona non grata in Israel, generally inured to Gazan suffering, because of his stance (Guardian, 13 August 2024). Bartov (with others) had earlier noted that Holocaust memory was now being weaponised to defend the mass murder of Palestinians (An Open Letter on the Misuse of Holocaust Memory’, New York Review of Books, 20 November 2023.)

Bartov has been joined by Jewish individuals who have launched Jews Demand Action(jewsdemandaction.org) against the ongoing genocide in October 2025. The initiative includes such luminaries as Avram Burg, Avi Shlaim, Daniel Levy and Yuval Abraham. Fellow signatory, Australian Sarah Schwartz reflects: “We grew up in a world where support for Israel was assumed. Debate existed, but only within narrow confines. The state’s rightness, its necessity – these were never to be questioned.” Rather, Schwartz has chosen integrity, defiance, over the demand for loyalty from her immediate community, at great personal cost (Guardian Australia, 8 October 2025).

Water off the proverbial ‘duck’s back’. The lobby and propaganda network is a juggernaut, committed to undiluted support and defense of a criminal state. With Israel’s escalating barbarism since October 2023, the support network has ramped up rather than diminished. Some anti-Zionist Jewish organisations, perennially small in size and excommunicated by their Zionist brethren, have continued to criticise Israel. Some new ones have appeared. Yet no ‘official’ Jewish organisation, nor prominent leader within those organisations, has issued a mea culpa since October.

It is an unsavoury spectacle. There is manifest here a collective sickness of soul, a moral depravity. Paradoxically, the centre of gravity of this apparatus is the so-called ‘diaspora’, which declines to make ‘Aliyah’ to reside in the state that is the singular object of its devotion.

The personnel of this apparatus claim disgust at the recent seeming escalation in acts of ‘antisemitism’. The cause is self-evident. Zionists, heal yourself.

Comes the appalling massacre at Sydney’s Bondi beach on 14 December, and a tidal wave of reported opinion in the media. Not a single mention of Israel. Yet Israeli flags adorn the memorial site and the political class is being pressured to make ‘hate speech’ against Israel illegal. The lobby and propaganda complex is in full working order.

  1. Wow, Evan thank you so much for saying what is not allowed to be said.

The very active pro Israel publicity campaign which has underscored the growth and support for Zionism, to stand up against the blatant neo-colonialism which is Israel expansion in Gaza, The West Bank, East Jerusalem and Golan Heights is not to be mentioned, the expulsion of Palestinians, Bedouin and other non-Israelis is the reclaiming of the land Abraham was promised way back in Genesis.

Much as in any colonial land grab, the indigenous peoples were disposable, except when they can be used as slave labour.

Non Jewish people do not understand the impact of generations of marginalisation, only Jews have suffered that …. right?

Six million Jews slaughtered in the Nazi holocaust…. only Jews right?

The silence surrounding any other sufferers is deafening, the distraction from any mention of the inhumanity which is displayed in the conquest of Gaza and The West Bank is a whitewashing of that holocaust, using the victim badge for justification… along with the claim of being God’s chosen people.

The call for a Royal Commission into the Bondi shooting is being amplified, nothing short of a Royal Commission will do, but the terms of reference of course must be limited to the Bondi shooting and the anti-semitism which no doubt drove the perpetrators to carry out that attack. Hate speech, if included in the terms of reference must be limited to antisemitic hate speech, not the constant flood of islamophobic hate speech a Christian Zionists peppers my message thread with. That’s OK, coz Islam is evil …right?

Nothing much changes when the defence of Israel is questioned, opposing voices are not heard, as in the British handing Palestine over to the Zionists, Palestinians were not asked what they thought, and in further ‘negotiations’, the Israeli stance has consistently been to accept their position, no further negotiation required, and any protest is counted with a collective punishment as we have seen time after time when there has been objection to a further grab of land, or if a child dares throw a stone at an Israeli soldier in the West Bank, or even chase a ball near to the ‘yellow line’ in Gaza, the result will be a dead child…. justification, if needed, that the child will grow up to be a terrorist.

The Jew is too often, when it suits, the eternal victim and victimhood justifies powerful retaliations,

  2. “The problem is, we’re not just a religion … We’re a nation. Civilization. Tribe. Peoplehood. But most of all we’re a family. … The seven million people in Israel, they are not my co-religionists, they are my siblings.” (Sarah Hurwitz, cited above).

During a recent declutter I stumbled across an old unpublished letter by me to Alan Gill (religious writer for SMH, who died in 2018) protesting a position he had taken on the censorship of ‘antisemitic’ religious texts, where I refer to an SBS interview with Rabbi Yeshayahu (Samuel) Leibowitz.

    The following is an extract:

‘Discussion of these issues is not confined to non-Jews, and I refer you to a recent SBS documentary (19.3.92) on the venerated Israeli philosopher, Rabbi Samuel Liebowitz who, in warning of the dangers of ‘judeo-Nazism’, remarked:

“If the current power machinery manages – the key word being ‘if’ – to enforce the current policies, then Israel will become a fascist state in the true meaning of the word. We are going in that direction, even though we aren’t there yet. That concerns the domestic situation. Moreover Israel will be involved in an extermination war with the entire Arab world. And then the entire world will be on the Arab side.”

Replying to his young Israeli interviewer’s incredulous response, “What do you mean, a fascist state?”, Liebowitz replied, “A fascist state as we know it”.

    ‘- Secret police?
    – Of course. And concentration camps. Not just for Arabs, we already have those. But for Jews, too – for Jews like me. Not for me. I’m eighty-eight, so I don’t count. But for Jews like me.’

Identifying what he considers to be not just the ‘Jewish problem’ but a problem for humanity, Liebowitz refers to Grillparzer’s famous dictum (1948), “From humanity, through nationalism, to bestiality”. The emphasis is upon straightforward human concerns not readily dismissed as anti-Jewish prejudice, antisemitism, or racism – that is to say, urgent concerns about the emergence of conditions in Israel favouring the resurgence of fascism. If no nation is free of this susceptibility Israel, in its ethnically traumatised victimhood, is presenting itself as a nation uniquely justified in acting beyond all moral, legal, and political constraints expressed via nationalistic rhetoric similar to that adopted by Nazism in justifying its ‘final solution’. It is only the history and the content that distinguishes these processes and procedures; according to Liebowitz the structure of the argument and certain aspects of the political method are analogous:

“There was never a Jewish race. Not even in the eyes of the Jews. Of course the Jewish identity wasn’t geographically determined – Jewish history is not tied to a specific place. The Jewish identity also had nothing to do with any political system. It means that Jewish nationalism was Judaism; it was the content of the national identity of the Jewish people. But from the moment that being a Jew – or rather the question of whether someone belongs to the Jewish people was no longer determined by Judaism – there is nothing, neither ideological or practical, that is shared by all of those passing for Jews.”

He went on: “I don’t know any value of substance, neither in daily life nor in the world of thought, which is shared by all people who are now passing for Jews; there isn’t any in the national identity shared by the group which is now called ‘the Jewish people’. From that crisis the the phenomenon has arisen of (the existence of) Jews for whom national, political independence has become the content of their national identity – because they don’t know any other Jewish content. It started in the second half of the nineteenth century: for those Jews, then, Jewishness meant a striving for national and political independence, and that transforms nationalism from something existential – from an essence which does not depend on a tendency – into a programme. And then you are dealing with a kind of nationalism which leads to atrocities, to barbarianism…”.

    And so it goes.

  3. In his conclusion to ‘Lobbying for Zionism on Both Sides of the Atlantic’ Ilan Pappe closes with a comment on the ‘2023 crisis’ with “The desperate and disastrous scenario is playing out before our eyes – we don’t need any power of imagination to see Israel slide into a far-right, authoritarian regime. We need to believe in humanity and the power of justice to carve a different way forward, however tough the odds are.”

I have argued with Christian Zionists from a humanitarian position, and am labelled ‘ani-semitic’, and while such an attitude prevails, Zionism takes on a super-human perspective, one which places Judaism, Jewishness, or however else one wishes to define semites, there can be no moral or ethical reckoning as the Palestinian holocaust continues under the full gaze of the rest of humanity.

  4. Thank you Dr Evan Jones for having the courage to write this article. Thank you AIMN for having the courage to publish it.
Thank you to all those Jewish individuals and organisations who have/had the courage to speak the truth.
    Shalom.

  5. Cite Caitlin Johnstone for empathy? An astrologer etc. who follows US faux anti-imperialist tankies of the left, and she merited a listing with the Finland Tampere University’s Russian Disinfo Reserach Unit ‘Vatnik Soup’.

Johnstone had been accused of promoting Kremlin talking points and agitprop vs Ukraine, European the west for Putin’s regime allied with Trump and Netanyahu; with the MAGA white Christian nationalist right in support?

  6. Andrew Smith

According to The Grayzone the man behind ‘Vatnik Soup’ may be in legal trouble.
“Faux disinformation expert Pekka Kallioniemi gained notoriety by smearing critics of the Ukraine proxy war. Since being unmasked for peddling pornographic representations of minors, Kallioniemi has been caught promoting fraudulent KGB documents to slander a journalist as a Russian spy.”

    https://thegrayzone.com/2025/10/13/pekka-child-profiteer-ukraine-disinfo/

In the article they go on to say:
‘After this reporter contacted Kallioniemi to inquire about his past ownership of several porn sites, he took to Twitter/X to preempt the coming storm. In a May 15, 2024 post, Kallioniemi tacitly acknowledged the authenticity of the unearthed material and his ownership of the sites, whining, “they’re attempting to blackmail me with, is presumably that as a young entrepreneur, I launched a few sex sites back in 2009, which I made money on selling them some years later [sic].”

His admission predated the revelation that those sites contained explicit sexual representations of minors and rape and incest fantasies. Kallioniemi went on to complain about “personal information on me, and on my family” being published, while chalking up his past bigotry to being “an ‘edgy’ 30-something.” ‘

Andrew, I’ll pay more heed to an astrologer than someone profiteering of sexual representations of minors anyday of the week.

  7. The detailed glossary shows the extent to which Zionism has become ingrained in Australian society. However, what is the extent of Zionist influence within the US government structure?? The reference below is likely out of date today, but it shows how Zionists have infested the US government for the benefit of Zionists rather than American citizens.

  8. @Andrew Smith:

‘Johnstone had been accused of promoting Kremlin talking points and agitprop vs Ukraine, European the west for Putin’s regime allied with Trump and Netanyahu; with the MAGA white Christian nationalist right in support?’

Do you actually mean to be abstruse?

  9. As I have opined for many years, we have a country and its people playing the victim who has become the perpetrator.

    Inexcusable.

I have no idea how accurate this article is, as I find his writing style very rigid, however the subject matter has no right either to do what they are doing….

  10. Andrew Smith, I’ve been familiar with the writings of Caitlin Johnstone for many years, and I have to say she’s a hell of a lot more on the money as well as pertinent & interesting to read than you’ll ever be.

Your boringly repeated views smack of someone whose view of the world is formed from a life lived in the bottom of a disused wine barrel, like some sad parody of one of Plato’s chained cavemen.

  11. @heather:

There is a nasty comment btl on that site that exemplifies the very antisemitism one might have assumed was only to be found in the realms of political concoction, til there it was.

I’m fearful of what may unfold if cultural division is permitted to be whipped up in our communities, especially if from politically disingenuous sources. I am not confident that this Royal Commission will be a nostrum, but the Commissioner’s bona fides are impeccable and I truly hope she can helm the process towards some deeper understanding and resolution of the core issues, towards achieving the structural/institutional reforms so sorely needed and, of course not least, towards healing for those most deeply affected.
