End-Times Investment: A core tenet of influential Evangelical theology is that the gathering of Jews in Israel and the rebuilding of the Temple are prerequisites for the Second Coming of Christ. This makes support for the Israeli state a non-negotiable theological imperative, irrespective of its political actions.

Pastor John Hagee & Christians United for Israel (CUFI): Hagee, who famously stated God sent Hitler to herd Jews to Israel, leads the largest pro-Israel lobbying group in the U.S., with over 10 million members. Advisers & Scripting: Figures like Pastor Paula White-Cain (spiritual advisor to President Trump) and Ralph Drollinger (leader of Capitol Ministries Bible studies for Congress members) have had direct influence, shaping prayer language and policy advocacy around “Judeo-Christian values” inextricably linked to support for Israel.

The framing of a perpetual struggle against Islamist terrorism (broadly defined) benefits the defence sector, security consultants, and media outlets, while justifying immense military aid to Israel ($3.8bn annual U.S. package) and domestic surveillance.
2.2 Media Amplification & Discourse Control
U.S. Ecosystem: Fox News, Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), and talk radio hosts like Sean Hannity seamlessly blend Evangelical theology, conservative politics, and unwavering support for Israeli government actions. Criticism is routinely framed as anti-American, anti-Semitic, or anti-Christian.
Australian Amplification: The Murdoch-owned The Australian and Sky News Australia replicate this model. Commentators like Andrew Bolt routinely conflate criticism of Israel with antisemitism and attack the “woke left” for undermining Western and “Judeo-Christian” civilisation. This creates a closed informational loop.
SECTION 3: THE AUSTRALIAN CASE STUDY – NORMALISED HYPOCRISY
3.1 The Morrison Administration: A Convergence in Office
Personal Theology & Policy: Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison was an active member of the Pentecostal Horizon Church in Sydney. His political rhetoric frequently invoked a “covenant” with the “quiet Australians” and framed his electoral victory as a “miracle.”
Policy Outcomes: This worldview manifested in:
Robodebt: A brutal, algorithm-driven welfare compliance program ruled illegal by the Federal Court. It reflected a neoliberal, punitive view of the poor, utterly divorced from Christian compassion.

There has been, always, a rough collection or coalition of suspicions, righteousness, egofixations, superstitions, vanities, ignorances, “id” obsessions, cunning overbearing drives, mobbery and contrived suitable stupidities in our slowly advancing world. Gaza, surveillance and robodebt are NOT anomalies but a world imagined by people with the inability to think further than the next dividend cheque, the WASP monsters of Vietnam come to fruition join with big capitalism and religious nuttery to hold it together until people finally see thru the guff.

I have a headline, ‘Justice v’s Power’, on my computer, looking at neoliberalism as the over arching philosophy(?) of geopolitics and globalisation of capitalism today.
The headline came from a book on the the history of Gaza, but it does apply so very much in the way the powerful are ever-ready to trammel over the rights of the powerless…. a continuation of history

Causes as many probs as not…the upper crust seem the most socialised themselves, are the most affected by cradle to grave cultural BS.
Not sure I would put too much into ideology, culture and religion used by regimes and media being informed by think tank networks whose own ideology is masked by organisations etc.
Case in point, global Atlas Koch and Tanton Networks’ influence on policy/MPs & media messaging to the public ie. ideology (fossil) fueled by the former’s ‘segregation economics’ and the latter’s white Christian nationalist eugenics; both have had long term influence in Oz.
Also their projects including joint Project 2025 between Koch’s Heritage and Tanton, and now Heritage and Netanyahu’s regime Project Esther* reported by NYT etc. May 2025, missed by all Oz media ex recently Milner at The Shot.
See symptoms post Hamas October 7 atrocity, with disproportionate blow back by IDF vs Gazan civilians, then US etc. pro-Palestine campus protests platformed by RW MSM, Trump et al. with claims of anti-semitism, that need to be shut down….. (in fact indie journo Sandra Kendzior complained of hearing not anti-semitism, but Kremlin talking points…..).
Outcome, RW MSM, Trump, GOP etc. could claim Biden-Dems were ‘weak’ and Trump was ‘strong’; also an electoral tactic to preclude a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas by Biden administration pre ’24 election, so as not to disadvantage Trump nor Netanyahu, keeping them safe from the law…..
*Heritage Proect Esther, seems to replicate a strategy inferred from Raspail’s popular racist screed ‘Camp of the Saints’, try disappear Palestinians/Islam plus attack university campuses and the centre, plus freedom of speech, assembly etc.
Bit tricky for Israel, Israelis and Jews though, since the Opus Dei influenced Heritage head had no issue with Carlson-Fuentes interview peppered with +ve references to Hitler, Nazis and anti-semitism?
Yes Andrew Klein, this is the current ‘western’ psycho-bulge that yet again we are ‘forced’ to deal with. It is the oldest potboiler resurrected time and again for supremacist and political convenience.
It is embedded in the ‘western’ narrative, and unambiguously in America’s foundations and ongoing modus operandi. It has been ferociously deployed as THE determinant for action, and inclusion and exclusion.
Since America bludgeoned itself and others into becoming the economic engine room of the world, its crass worship and politics became wealth fixated only on money and power. It knew no bounds, few could avoid its reach, most adapting and learning. But its selected exclusions brought it to an increasingly paranoiac warrior defensiveness.
As a faux nice-guy fix it reached for neo-liberalism as the vehicle for global capture, and soon the re-aligned neoconservatives to enfranchise and amalgamate evangalists, supremacists and nationalists to obtain a ubiquitous powerful domestic backing and well of money.
Neoliberalism sucked the ‘west’ and other vulnerables dry, whilst the neoconservatives provided the vehicle for indoctrination. An indoctrination that provided vast opportunity for lobbyists of all kinds, including the hugely monied and powerful Fossil fuelers, the MICs and the Israel lobby.
It is now, like a plague of crime, in extremis, and needs to be handled very carefully, as its desperate strategy is only transactional, and doesn’t truck with reasoned diplomacy.
