Many accuse Bridge marchers of brashness, moral vanity and impracticality.
All of us would concede that this famine is human-made. All of us agree that 300,000 caring donations would help.
Not so many will may be aware that UNHCR is reported to be having trouble getting aid in. Food for a typical adult can now cost as much as $1000 per week in Gaza. Direct funding may be the most realistic way to help Palestinians stay nourished.
Many of us are/will also be trying to donate to people starving in other war zones, such as Sudan even while we struggle to stick to diets ourselves.
One of the lovely families I donated to had been moved six times.
The mother was valiantly growing mint and young pumpkins in the sand beside their tent.
Here is a link to a video from them.
I foolishly lectured them about the health dangers of burning plastic in the absence of safer fuel.
They had nowhere left to run when the latest evacuation notifications came on 5 July 2025 and were bombed within hours. The plants are gone too, of course.
Fortunately other families remain. A ceasefire, sanctions and end to the aid blockade are certainly worth marching for.
Unfortunately, Netanyahu continues to prosecute deadlier ideas.
Dear reader, we need your support
Independent sites such as The AIMN provide a platform for public interest journalists. From its humble beginning in January 2013, The AIMN has grown into one of the most trusted and popular independent media organisations.
One of the reasons we have succeeded has been due to the support we receive from our readers through their financial contributions.
With increasing costs to maintain The AIMN, we need this continued support.
Your donation – large or small – to help with the running costs of this site will be greatly appreciated.
